A Note from our Principal, Mrs. Holmes
Greetings Parents,
We had a very busy week last week, and it was full of a lot of fun. It was wonderful to see so many families at Grandparents' Day and Skate Night! I look forward to many more fun events that we have planned for this year and hope that you will continue to stay involved at Rosebud!
I want to remind you about our schoolwide mural that will showcase our students. Yellow stars went home a few weeks ago for you to decorate at home, so start sending those in if you haven't already. Stars should be designed to show your child's personality.
Our annual STEM Challenge has been announced, and I encourage all students to participate. This year, we will fly kites. Students can design kites however they would like. The cost to enter the STEM challenge is $3.00. Projects are due October 16th. We plan to fly them on October 20th. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place trophies will go out to winners who keep their kites in the sky for the longest time at the highest altitude. You will find more information about the STEM project below.
Field Trip information was also released, and we are really excited for this week! We will be headed to the Yellow River Game Ranch. The cost for this field trip is $25, and we encourage all parents to pay through MyPaymentsPlus. This is due by November 10th. More information can be found below.
Last, I want to brag a little bit! Did you know that Rosebud is in the top 50% of Title I Schools in the state of Georgia for our Georgia Milestones scores?! This is a great accomplishment, and we will continue to keep good things happening! District Assessments are coming up in October, so I'm looking forward to sharing more great accomplishments then as well. I encourage you to view those dates below and plan any needed absences around those dates.
I am so proud of the hard work our students and teachers do to make Rosebud the very best! Enjoy your week, Comets Family!
District Assessments
District Assessments are coming up in October. Students perform better on assessments when they are in their familiar setting, as opposed to testing in a makeup group with a different teacher or classroom. We encourage you to make every effort possible to have your child at school and on time on the dates listed below so that they can perform their absolute best. All testing begins in the morning and will be complete by lunch time.

Important Reminders
Does your child have an upcoming birthday? Looking for a unique way to celebrate?
You can help make your child's birthday extra special by putting their name in lights! For $15, you can have your child's name displayed on our school marquee as well as on the schoolwide eClass page for a day. Place your order on mypaymentsplus.com.
- Please remember that student checkout stops at 2:00 each day, as we begin to prepare for dismissal at that time.
- We understand that transportation changes can occur on occasion. Please be sure to email RosebudTransportation@gcpsk12.org by 12noon to communicate any changes to our staff.
- All parents that enter the building must have an ID on them. Please make sure to always have your ID with you when visiting Rosebud ES for any reason.
Reading tests often show that boys lag behind girls in reading. One reason may be that moms do more reading aloud and elementary school teachers are often women. So boys may associate reading with women and school. Fathers, uncles and grandfathers can encourage boys to read by showing them that books are for men, too. Give reading with your children as much time as you do sports or other activities. Learn more here!
Play 2 Learn
Play 2 Learn is a program for children from birth to 5 years old and their parents. This program is focused on building the capacity in parents to be their child’s first and best teacher as well as providing an opportunity for students to be in a group setting to play and learn. The program is FREE.
Please contact Valerie Jackson or Brandi Patterson for more information.
