A Bundle of Joy During the Most Wonderful Time of the Year!

The Phoenix Center Traveled the World Just Like Santa Claus!
At the Phoenix Center this month, Language Arts lessons included stories and activities about the World Cup. During group instruction, students learned key vocabulary words about the event, read stories about current games, and kept track of scores during math, identifying winners using more and less. The students virtually visited various countries represented in the games and even had an opportunity to catch some of the players in action. Congrats to Argentina for winning their 3rd World Cup title!

Expanding Our Reach From the North to South Poles!
New Year, New Bus Routes!
The NRESC Transportation Department will be holding its next bid opening on 1/12/23 for any routes we are currently operating via emergent quotes. The start date for these new routes will be 2/1/23.
The department is also working on its 2023-2024 information packet, which will be available for distribution to our partner school districts before the end of February. This packet will include the new student information sheets and due dates for Special Education, Non-Public, Charter, and Vocational schools and (hopefully) the new rates for Athletics and Field Trips.
A New School District Joins Our Holiday Table
The NRESC technology team quickly stepped in and assisted the two-building school district with technology staffing when the district was in sudden need. Since then, NRESC administration has worked in concert with Byram's administration, Superintendent John Fritzky, Business Administrator Nancy DeRiso, and Technology Coordinator, Sean Wilday, to formulate a permanent solution to their district's expanding current and future technology needs. The NRESC is excited to provide technology services to Byram and we welcome them to our family of partner districts.
PD for Speech Therapists Under Their Trees
Through the use of the American-Speech-Language-Hearing's (ASHA) online learning platform, Paterson and the NRESC have purchased subscriptions that will allow our staff members to access on demand PD. This will help to enhance the services being delivered to the students of Paterson on a daily basis. The focus of this year’s PD is in the following categories:
Critically Analyzing Your Caseload
Beyond Standard Scores: Speech-Language Assessment of Dual Language Learners
Reframing Social Supports for School-Age Students on the Autism Spectrum
Using Curriculum-Based Language Assessment to Evaluate School-Age Students
An Overview of Service Delivery Models for School-Based SLPs
ESCs Assemble!
Friendly Reminders
All payroll questions and inquiries can be sent to both Mr. Marco Loli and Mr. Benito Squillaro at payroll@nresc.org.
School Closings and Delays
As of this moment, school districts cannot utilize remote/virtual days for weather-related events of three (3) days or less. Since we are a functioning school district and we are no longer in the middle of a public health emergency, we cannot utilize a remote/virtual work day unless the above-mentioned terms are met. Therefore, IF we are faced with poor weather conditions , I will be making a decision (open, closure, early dismissal, delayed opening) which will affect all groups under this purview (Central Office, Ascend, Hope, Phoenix, and Second Home) in the same way.
In most cases, a decision will be made no later than 6:00 A.M. on the day of the weather event. Along with listing this information on our website and social media accounts, you will receive a phone call, text, and email based on the most current information that the NRESC has on file; therefore, please be sure to notify Human Resources if any contact information has changed.
To reiterate, if you are assigned to locations outside of NRESC programs, you follow the decisions of those school districts.
Calendar Reminders
- December 23-January 2: NRESC central office and schools/programs are CLOSED (Holiday Break)
- January 16: NRESC central office and schools/programs are CLOSED (Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day)
