welcome to the Construction Zone
Kia ora koutou,
On Tuesday the 3rd of September 2019 an announcement was made the Ministry of Education that we would be receiving four new learning spaces due to roll growth.
We are hugely excited to announce that this week, the building project has started.
Over the next 37-40 weeks Southcoast Construction will be part of our Puketapu Whānau constructing our new buildings.
Below are some 3D renders of the designs to give you an idea of how they will look:
We are planning to have our akonga and kaiako into these learning spaces in Term 2, 2022.

Staff Changes
Whaea Liss has accepted a position in the junior school at Tikorangi School, which as a family they have decided is the right choice for their whanau at this time.
From Whaea Liss “I have had a wonderful time being a part of the whānau and team at Puketapu and leave having added some wonderful teachings and memories to my kete”
Whaea Liss would like to thank you for the support she has had since beginning at Puketapu School. Although it has been a short period of time, we have appreciated how Whaea Liss has worked to create a strong culture of manaaki and learning in her class.
We wish Melissa and her whanau all the best for her future.
PB4L
PB4L (Positive Behaviour For Learning) works to build a culture where positive behaviour and learning is a way of life.

The Wool Shed
We are delighted to be hosting The Wool Shed, a great resource celebrating the natural, sustainable eco-fibre that is wool.
On Monday, Mrs Paterson and Claudia Lua of Creative Fibre showed students how a spinning wheel works and how to felt, using some lambs wool - which were shorn from Whaea Paula's lambs!

Kauri
"Today is School photo day. Everyone is looking good and ready for their photos. The rain is staying away. My favourite thing about school is having a big classroom and my friends. I love doing Office Duty and helping, it is fun."
- Alex Morrison, Kauri 2
design technology
This week Puketapu School is registered for a weeklong virtual online hui about esports and gaming within New Zealand.
Esports is a form of competition using video games. Esports often takes the form of organized, multiplayer video game competitions, particularly between professional players, individually or as teams.
This a great opportunity for Kauri and Kowhai to listen and learn from New Zealand professionals.

Thank you subbers!
A massive shout of to the people doing subbing. This is a tough job especially when some of our teams are really full (Year 0-2 miniball for example).
It isn't easy making sure everyone gets a fair amount of time each week so aim for everyone getting a fair amount over the whole season!
Thank you as it is hard to watch for gaps in the play, while getting the next children ready while trying to watch your own child play. You subbers are amazing!

If you would like a team photo like this please have someone take the photo on a day when all the team are present and email it to me ksowman@puketapu.school.nz

We are on the look out for...
Kia ora Puketapu Whanau,
The Design Tech Hub is on the lookout for some plywood. For the last few weeks we have been lucky enough to have Ian come and work with some year 7 classes to make balance boards.......but now the word is out, and the rest of the year 7 and 8 students want to make boards too.
Do you have any plywood that you could donate to us? It would need to be 16 - 18mm thick.
If you do, please pop it over to the Design Tech Hub and we will store it until our next opportunity to work with Ian.
