Community Check-In
North Rockland Central School District - Dec 8
Hello North Rockland Families:
Many consider December the most wonderful time of year! In North Rockland we are hoping to make that vision a reality by providing students and our school community with experiences that celebrate family, friends and good cheer!
Principalās and Honor Roll breakfasts for middle and high schoolers this week were a reflection of how hard students are working in every grade level on the route to becoming the best version of themselves.
Each time we host the ceremonies Iām impressed by our students, the support they show each other and the pride they take in their accomplishments and the accomplishments of their classmates. We are so proud of our creative, forward-thinking future leaders that we have had the honor of celebrating this week!
Snow flurries and the Art Honor Society Winter Windows welcomed the new season. As the holidays begin, our teachers and staff have tailored custom creative lesson plans that incorporate winter activities, embrace the diversity of December celebrations, leverage colder weather and spread cheer -- while learning. A long standing North Rockland tradition.
Over the next two weeks a wide variety of Winter Wonderland events, classic holiday performances, caroling, food, toy and coat drives for our community, class feasts and special trips will keep students busy as they wrap up the first half of the school year. **Please remind your children to listen to school announcements for details on upcoming spirit weeks, activities and seasonal happenings by building.
With winter break around the corner, NR is committed to keeping students of every age engaged and on track as we integrate end-of-year traditions into the classroom.
Regardless of which holiday you celebrate I encourage students to not only work hard on their studies, but more importantly take those extra steps to be the type of person you want to be!

NRCSD Referendum Passes āļø
Thank you, North Rockland! The December 4 referendum passed with 80% of the vote, enabling NRCSD to access $17 million from its Capital Reserve Fund to upgrade building and athletics facilities at North Rockland High School.
We anticipate submitting our plans to the New York State Education Department shortly, and, pending timely approval, plan to break ground this spring.
NRHS Improvements
Capital Collaboration
North Rockland Grounds department readied the sidewalks of the High School Annex for new paving as part of the Districtās upgrades to the Sport Complex. The mulch beds alongside the building being replaced with paving provides better insulation and a larger space for our sports teams to utilize. Athletes need the area to gather for bussing, away games, pick ups and loading team equipment.
NR Grounds Crew removed tree stumps, soil, prepped and level the area for our masonry partner to then pour the concrete to match the current walkway. Our staff is not only skilled but efficient and got the job done in one day.
Keeping the prep work in house offers a major cost saving to the district on improvements. Collaboration on projects like this between our buildings, ground and facilities teams and contracted agencies are key. More photos.
