Everyone a Reader Volunteer Opportunity
Looking for volunteer reading tutors:
Village Elementary Everyone A Reader Team!!
Do you have a passion for reading? We have a wonderful volunteer opportunity for anyone who would love to share their time with a child. Our reading tutors receive 2+ hour training and then work 1 hour per week with “their” students on developing confidence and fluency in reading.
Everyone A Reader is a program designed and overseen by the San Diego County Office of Education and has proven to be a highly successful and positive way of supporting children in the process of learning to read.
Our mission is to fill the present need for additional tutors, and we are inviting you to consider becoming part of our wonderful team of moms, dads, grandparents and members of our community who are all giving the gift of reading to a child.
EAR volunteers must attend a 2+ hour training. If you have been trained previously, you do not need to attend. Training day and time information coming soon.
Please contact Lindsey Cummins 619-522-8915 x5201, or return the bottom portion (Link below) to the office/classroom teacher, if you are interested in tutoring.

Village Behavior Expectations-
Each week at Village, we will work together to reinforce expectation for our campus. This week, we will concentrate on classroom expectations and practice lining up. It always helps when home and school are on the same page, so I am hoping that you will take time to review and help support our students with reminders and encouragement.

Important Information about Village Elementary: Get Involved!
Village Parent and Teacher Organization (PTO):
Please, please become a member of PTO! Without the generous membership donations of time and money, Village would not be the incredible school that it is today! PTO pays for field trips, assemblies and presentations, grade level and teacher funding and school culture building. They host several events throughout the year like the Jog-a-thon, Bingo for Books, and Movie nights! Please check out our Village PTO page for more information and announcements.
Coronado Schools Foundation (CSF):
CSF is the Coronado Schools Foundation and is separate from our Village PTO. CSF raises money for special programs and pathways at Village. Our Visual and Performing Arts (VAPA), Innovation Lab (ILAB), Band and Choir are all paid for by CSF. Without your generous donations, our students would not be provided these opportunities. Please consider signing up for Hive365 to help keep our programs alive and thriving for our students.
Volunteering:
Volunteering will be in full swing. In order to volunteer you must complete the volunteer application. This includes a negative TB test within the last 4 years, no exceptions. Good News: We will have a volunteer TB survey on August 15th from 1-3 pm, at Village Hall. If you plan to volunteer, please come to this event! If you do not come to the event, and plan to volunteer, you will need to have a Dr.'s office prove your negative TB test or have a new negative TB test verification. Please be patient with us as we try to get volunteers on campus ASAP, all the while, following state and county mandates.

Communications
CUSD and Village Communication
We are committed to providing you with pertinent and timely information throughout the year. The Village website and Facebook are updated regularly, and you’ll receive a weekly principal email with a link to our Village Family Newsletter (every Sunday at 5:00pm). Please take time to read through this important information and reminders.
Social Media:
Please connect directly with Village Elementary regarding questions and concerns. It is our district protocol/policy that site administrators and school staff DO NOT monitor local Coronado social media sites (ie: Coronado Moms and Dads, Coronado 92118, Coronado Happenings and Crown Talk). Dr. Bergener and office will only monitor posts made by us to the Village Facebook Site and our Village Instagram page. We will try to respond in a timely manner. We highly encourage you to contact Dr. Bergener, Ms. White, your child's teacher or office staff per email or phone, if you have a question or concern.
Our social media motto:
We lift people up, bring people together and celebrate the greatness of our Coronado Village community!
