Weekly Bulletin 3.4
Greetings John Adams College and Career Academy Community!
Welcome to the week 4 of quarter 3! As we approach the mid-point of the quarter, (wow, we're approaching that time already), let's continue to be mindful of the high-stakes events that are approaching for our scholars. Our 9th & 10th graders are completing the NWEA Spring testing cycle this week. We are still aiming for 95% completion! Shout out to Mr. Weigand, who got 100% of the Algebra I test administered. We must all be vigilant in getting the untested students tested. Our juniors will be taking the SAT in approximately one month, (March 5). This exam will give our scholars the opportunity to become eligible for college scholarships, and should be taken just as serious as other exams. Our freshmen will take the Algebra I end of course, (EOC), exam, where they must show competency in order to be eligible for graduation. Our sophmores will take 4 end of course, (EOC), exams in April, one of which being ELA 2, which they must show compentency on to be eligible for graduation. Our juniors will also take the American Government EOC in April which may qualify them for the Citizenship Seal, (should they score a 3 or higher). Our seniors have are working on college & FAFSA applications, finalizing seals, and closing gaps as they move toward graduation. All of these require preperation and we must be persistent in making sure our students our prepared for these events that all have outcomes with lingering effects. Thank you to everyone who play a role in prioritizing these items. Plan with the expectation that our scholars will rise to the occassion when properly prepared, (by us). Plan like their success depends on it, because it does.
In service of scholars,

Procedure reminders
- Seek approval for field trips from the principal, (in writing), before scheduling any field trips. Include the Mrs. Sprinkle & Mr. Chunn in the email so they can add it to the events & field trips calendar should the field trip be approved.
- Admit students into your classroom until 8:15 before requiring a pass, after 8:15, all late arrivals must sign-in at the planning center.
- Refrain from issuing hall passes the first 10 and the last 10 minutes of class.
- Refrain from "replying all" to mass emails, as it pushes important information down the thread, (potentially causing it to be missed).
- Review the assessment calendar & make sure that you issue a diagnostic (pre-test), mid-term & final in all classes. These assessments should always access a priority-standard.
- Only permit students in your class who are on your roster for that period, (unless you are covering a class). This includes advisory.
- Use all 46 instructional minutes for instruction. Students should not be idle at any time during the period. Prepare critical thinking task for those who master the concepts, and interventions for those who do not.
- Apply the knowledge gained from PDI into your everyday practices.
