First Samuel 3:3-10, 19
3 The lamp of God had not yet gone out, and Samuel was lying in Yahweh's sanctuary, where the ark of God was,
4 when Yahweh called, 'Samuel! Samuel!' He answered, 'Here I am,'
5 and, running to Eli, he said, 'Here I am, as you called me.' Eli said, 'I did not call. Go back and lie down.' So he went and lay down.
One principle we can identify from 1 Samuel 3:2–10 is that if we are willing and receptive, we can grow in our ability to recognize the voice of the Lord. The Lord can communicate with us in many ways, including through our quiet thoughts, speech, and dreams.

Hello from Mrs. Oikonen!
Hopefully everyone stayed warm and cozy this weekend!
We will be having individual meets this Tuesday. Please check the sign- up sheet for the time you have signed up.
I will be changing the time of the 1/2/3 Morning Meet for January. Please note, we will be starting at 9:15am. I would like to do some phonemic awareness activities with the students. It will take about 15 minutes. Nothing is needed as we will be playing with words!
Take a look at what we will be doing this week!

Shrove Tuesday is the day before Lent and starts on Ash Wednesday. The name SHROVE comes from the old middle English word 'shriven' meaning to go to confession.
Lent always starts on a Wednesday so people went to confession on the day before, which hence became known as Shriven Tuesday and then Shrove Tuesday.
Shrove Tuesday is also known Pancake Day, which comes from the old English custom of using up all the fattening ingredients in the house before Lent, so that people were ready to fast during Lent. The fattening ingredients that most people had in their houses in those days were eggs and milk.
COME TO SILC FOR SOME PANCAKES ON TUES NOVEMBER 13, TIME TO BE DETERMINED.
Ash Wednesday Mass February 14th 1:00 pm at OLPH Parish
Ash Wednesday is important because it marks the start of the Lenten period leading up to Easter, when Christians believe Jesus was resurrected. The ashes symbolize both death and repentance. During this period, Christians show repentance and mourning for their sins, because they believe Christ died for them.
PLEASE JOIN THE SILC STAFF and Students @ 1:00 pm on Feb. 14th. Please do not wear pink, we will celebrate Valentines day on the 13th.
