December 2023
Message from the Principal
Greetings Weaver Lake Families,
We've had a busy first trimester and we've loved every minute of it. Thank you for your support as you attend STEM events, participate in fundraisers and PTO, volunteer, engage in conferences and partner with us to support our STEM scholars. The Weaver Lake parents and community are outstanding and we are grateful for all of you!
We know that the winter weather is coming! Please make sure your child has the proper clothing for the weather. THANK YOU to the Osseo/Maple Grove Knights of Columbus for their large donation of new winter coats, hats and gloves/mittens. We are so grateful for their generosity. If you are in need of a coat or other winter wear, let your child's teacher know.
The Weaver Lake Staff and I would like to wish your family Happy Holidays. We are also aware that winter and the holidays can be hard. If you need assistance in anyway, please reach out to us and we will support your child and you the best we can! Libby Lorren, Social Worker and Maria Andersen, Counselor are great resources. Wishing you much health and happiness this December!
With Warm Regards,
Lena Christiansen, Principal

STEM in Action Fair - Thank you!
Thank you for coming to our annual STEM in Action Fair! It was wonderful to see so many families.
A special thank you to the staff and students for all the hard work you put into the first trimester. It was obvious from all your projects that a lot of learning has taken place. Thank you also to our special guests from Salk Middle School, Crimson Robotics, Weaver Lake PTO, and Science From Scientists. A final thanks to our Volunteer Coordinator and the numerous volunteers that helped mat and hang projects!
Lost & Found
Our lost and found is overflowing! Please remind your students to look for lost items in the lost and found. If you see anything you are missing, please contact your student’s teacher. Any lost and found items not claimed by Winter Break (December 19) will be donated to a local charity. Please consider labeling your child’s items, as it helps us return missing items to their owner.

Most days this will include boots, snow pants, winter coats, hats and mittens/gloves. Please mark all winter clothing items with the student's name. ALL students will go outside for recess unless they have a note from their physician stating the reason they need to stay inside and the duration of the limitation.

Volunteer Coordinator Update
Greetings Weaver Lake Elementary Volunteers!
Thank you to all of the volunteers who helped prepare our school for the STEM in Action Fair! I know the families loved seeing all of the students' hard work on display and if it wasn’t for you, they wouldn’t have been able to enjoy it.
We are still looking for volunteers who are interested in leading small groups of students during recess with the choice of an alternative activity. For more information or to sign-up, please click the link below! https://bit.ly/3rSEbJS
As we approach the holiday season and the end of 2023, I anticipate that we will see requests for class projects and parties to start rolling in. If you’re not already registered to volunteer, now is a great time to fill out the online application! Registered volunteers are the first to hear about class events. Family Lunch Signup 🍱
Starting in December, Fridays will be a chance for parents to sign up to come eat with their child in the cafeteria. Space is limited and parents are encouraged to only sign up once a month.
Please sign up HERE for the grade level that your student is in. This will be the time you will be joining them for lunch.
- Reservations must be made at least 24 hours in advance.
- Parents will be allowed to have lunch with their child(ren) only on Fridays. Limit two guests per child.
- Due to limited space for guests, we ask parents sign up for a maximum of one lunch per month. You may sign up on the same day for your children in different grades.
- Cost of the school lunch for parents is $5.00 (please bring exact change!). You can use your child's lunch account if they normally pay full price for lunch. Free/reduced lunch families will need to pay for their meal using cash. The school lunch menu can be found here: https://schools.mealviewer.com/school/OsseoISDElementarySchools
- Please arrive 5 minutes prior to the start of the scheduled lunch time for your child(ren). If you are purchasing a school lunch for yourself, we ask that you go through the lunch line BEFORE students arrive.
- All parents are asked to be seated at a designated table. Your child(ren) will sit at that table with you after they have gone through the school lunch line (if needed).
- Parents joining their child(ren) for lunch are asked to clean up their area at the end of lunch.
- Please delete your reservation if you are unable to make it to allow for other parents to attend.
