Falcon Flyer
Belong. Inspire. Grow.
Straight from the Hardt
Hello Ridgeline Families- It was fun to get back in the building with our students and colleagues! The cycle of the school calendar can be a blessing and a curse at the same time. It’s always great to be able to take some time off during the breaks. The challenging part is managing each transition where one “phase” of the year comes to an end and a new “phase” begins. It can be difficult for some students and staff to shift in and out of the school routine for extended periods of time. Chances are you heard some grumbling from your own kids this week. Not necessarily about school itself, but definitely about having to get up early again!
The day before break we ended with a fun spirit assembly and I just wanted to take a moment to thank some key people who contributed to this silly and festive event. We are proud and fortunate to have such a great cheer squad who kicked off the show! They’ve been joined recently by the dance/spirit team who also delivers a great show for the crowd. Our drumline and cheer taught us a new cheer/chant that we hope to roll out soon.
Our ASB officers who facilitated: Owen Rich, Ryan Sutter, Srikar Surapaneni, and Lily Pesnell
Our Christmas Story Author: Jack Lavelle
Santa: Mr. Rogers
Reindeer: some very dedicated freshman!
Ad Hoc Spirit Coordinator who spear-headed the whole thing!: Mrs. Twining
Something pretty special that happens to me regularly is that I get to be surprised by the greatness of any one of our students. An example from this week was Kahrin’s artwork featured in today’s flyer. There’s a chance I would never have met Kahrin, but she volunteered to do this project for me in her “free” time. Now I know she’s a very nice person and a talented artist! Artists, athletes, musicians, computer programmers, or the kid who can solve the rubics cube in 2.5 seconds! Maybe I should make this a weekly feature in the Falcon Flyer?? Ridgeline’s Got Talent??
I do enjoy sharing our story with you each week. It’s important for you to see and hear some of what your own child experiences here at Ridgeline.
Make it a great weekend! –Mr. Hardt
Student Services
FAFSA Assistance Events
Now that the college acceptance letters have begun to land in mail/inboxes, many folks may still have questions about financial aid and the resources available to fund their student’s post-secondary pursuits. To reiterate, filing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is foundational to the college financial aid process. If you have not done so, there is still time to complete it before we reach most college and university priority filing deadlines. What’s more, there are resources to help parents/guardians file right here in our own community!
Spokane Teacher’s Credit Union (STCU) hosted two FAFSA Assistance Events in the fall and will offer three additional events during the next 6 weeks. For each of these events, STCU and The College Success Foundation (CSF) will provide families with onsite help with the FAFSA-filing process! And you do not need to be a STCU member to participate! The dates, times, and locations are outlined below:
Thursday, January 19
Time: 5:30 – 7:30 p.m.
Location: STCU Northtown Square Branch / 4747 N. Division St., Suite 105 / Spokane, WA 99207
Tuesday, February 7
Time: 5:30 – 7:30 p.m.
Location: STCU North Spokane Branch / 207 E. Hastings Road / Spokane, WA 99218
Thursday, February 16
Time: 5:30 – 7:30 p.m.
STCU Spokane Valley Branch / 13501 E. Sprague Ave. / Spokane Valley, WA 99216
If you plan to attend one of these events, here is a link to helpful checklist for preparation: STCU's FAFSA Assistance webpage.
