Quarter 3 Midterms and Conferences
New: Eastview WIN Time on Wednesday Afternoons in the Learning Commons
Every Wednesday students can benefit from an opportunity for academic support from 2:45pm – 4:15pm in the Learning Commons. Students are supported to complete their schoolwork learning in a supervised setting. Faculty and staff are available along with upper-class peer tutors (especially skilled in Mathematics). Students will identify their priorities (“What I Need” or “What’s Important Now”), create a plan for the most efficient use of their time, celebrate their accomplishments, and leave with a plan for continued success. Students do not need to sign up in advance for WIN Time. We do ask that students plan to be there for the start at 2:45pm so they can benefit from the full support. We will keep a log of students and their engagement (arrival/departure time and their focus/work while they are there). For students needing transportation home, activity buses will be available departing at 5:15pm.
The final day of Quarter 3 is Friday, April 8.

ATHLETICS
What a week! As we kickoff Winterfest Week here is a look back at another exciting week in the MSHSL playoff season for our Eastview teams. Here is an update on all of our MSHSL Winter Sports Teams still competing. For those of you looking to follow any of our teams a bit more closely here are your best resources:
Follow @EVHSathletics on Twitter
Visit www.mshsl.org and click on “tournaments” for all of the post-season brackets, programs, ticket info etc.
Wrestling: The Eastview Varsity Wrestling Team had six team members compete in the State Tournament at the Xcel Energy Center this past weekend. Ezra Formaneck, Ethan Dupont, and Alex Baccoli all competed well and had good battles, but did not place. Nolan Enderlein made his way through the consolation rounds at 106 pounds and had a 6th place, All-State podium finish! This year marked the very first year of the Girls Division at the State Wrestling Tournament and Eastview was represented by Elsie Olson who placed 3rd at 185 pounds to capture All-State Honors and Riley Myers who was crowned the first ever Girls Division STATE CHAMPION at 138 pounds! It was a historic weekend for the sport and Elsie and Riley will forever be a big part of that history! The team also earned an Academic Gold Award for their strong performance in the classroom.
Congratulations to all our wrestlers (pictured below).
Swim and Dive: Congrats to Nick Phomsouvanh who placed 13th in the 100 Breaststroke at the State Meet at the U of M Aquatic Center on Friday and Saturday!
Boys Hockey: The Boys Hockey team had a great playoff run through the Section Tournament and finished as the Section 3AA Runner-up. They team put up a great effort in the Section Finals against #1 Seed and #1 Ranked in the State Cretin-Derham Hall, but fell by a final score of 3-0. A huge thanks to the 2500 plus fans that packed Braemar Arena in Edina beyond capacity to show their support for the team making for a very memorable Section Championship environment.
Girls Basketball: The girls season came to an end on Wednesday night as they fell 52-41 at #4 Seed Jefferson. The team rallied from a big first half deficit to tighten the margin, but just couldn’t get the score tied or take the lead.
CI and PI Hockey: Our Dakota Hawks teams are prepping for their playoffs. Their State Tournament, if they should qualify, will be held March 18-19 at Bloomington Jefferson.
Boys Basketball: The boys finished their regular season this past week and received the #1 Seed in Section 3AAAA. They will open their playoff run on Wednesday, March 9th when they host #8 Hastings at 7:00 p.m. Their playoffs would continue with a victory on March 12th and their Section Championship Game is March 17th all at the site of the higher seeded team. Teams who qualify will participate in the State Tournament at Target Center March 22-26.
Good luck to all of our teams and Go, Lightning!
