"EXPECT EXCELLENCE IN EVERYTHING"
September 22, 2023
A Message from Dr. Brown
Thank you for another great week here at Woodward Mill Elementary School. It was pancake week! Our PTA provided a wonderful pancakes and pajamas event. Thanks to everyone who volunteered their time and thanks to parents for bringing your children out to support our school.
The cafeteria will be open for parents to join their student(s) at lunch starting October 2, 2023. Please see the guidelines posted here.
Please note that classrooms that met certain criteria earned a pajama party. That was for today only. Monday is not a pajama day. Thank you for coming out for Curriculum Night this past month and helping your child’s class earn either a pajama party, popsicle party, or pizza party!
Also, please see PTA's section on Reflections. Please encourage your child to participate.
Thanks for making Woodward Mill a family! We can’t wait to welcome you back in!

WMES PTA
The PTA Reflections Program is a national arts recognition and achievement program sponsored by the Parent Teacher Association (PTA). The program encourages students of all ages and abilities to explore and be involved in the arts. It was established in 1969 by the National PTA and has since become one of the largest student arts recognition programs in the United States.
The main goal of the PTA Reflections Program is to promote creativity and self-expression among students. It invites them to create works of art in various categories, including:
1. Literature: Students can submit poems, essays, stories, or other written pieces.
2. Visual Arts: This category covers a wide range of visual arts, such as drawing, painting, photography, and sculpture.
3. Dance Choreography: Students can create and perform original dance routines.
4. Music Composition: This category encourages students to compose and perform their own music compositions.
5. Photography: Students can submit original photographs they have taken.
Each year, the program establishes a theme that serves as the inspiration for the entries. This year's theme is "I am Hopeful Because..." Students create their artworks based on their interpretation of this theme. The entries are then judged at the local, state, and national levels, with awards and recognition given to outstanding submissions. The program not only promotes artistic expression but also encourages students to think critically and creatively.
Participating in the PTA Reflections Program can be a rewarding experience for students as it allows them to showcase their artistic talents and receive recognition for their creativity. Please encourage your children to enter.
