Nurse's News!
As many people begin to plan for fall and winter activities and celebrations, the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) is a valuable resource to help protect you and your families, friends, and communities. October is a great time to get a flu vaccination! A yearly flu vaccine is the first and most important step in protecting against flu viruses. With fall and winter gatherings ahead that can contribute to the spread of infectious diseases, getting a flu vaccine is an essential part of protecting yours and your family’s health this season. Help stop the spread of flu viruses by practicing everyday preventative actions: Avoid close contact with sick people, avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth, cover your coughs and sneezes, wash your hands often with soap and water, stay home if you are feeling ill. Together we can do our part to slow the spread of flu.
For those impacted by allergies and/or asthma, it is important to maintain consistency in your preventative maintenance medications. Doing so can help prevent symptoms that could mirror infectious illnesses, which could lead to more absences and missed instructional time.
Continue to encourage and practice healthy habits! Getting plenty of rest, eating healthy foods, drinking plenty of water, and regularly exercising are vital to your overall health.
Please visit https://www.cdc.gov/flu/prevent/vaccinations.htm for more information.
For any questions, please email Nurse Larsen (Larsenk@fortmillschools.org).
