Hello Spring!

Spring semester always seems to fly by here at East Chicago Central. March and April proved to be busy months of testing, but we were able to squeeze in some fun activities too! This month EC Central held both the SAT and the ASVAB for our juniors and seniors. Thankfully we were able to relax and recharge over our spring break at the end of March.

Culinary Arts Competition

Ms. Rivera's Advanced Culinary Arts students competed this month on who could make the best 3-course meal. As part of their salad unit, students made a homemade salad dressing and a fruit salad for dessert. Their task was to put their own spin on chicken alfredo, which they made before earlier in the school year.


We had a group of teachers serve as "taste testers" and score the students. Students were scored on taste, presentation, and more. Great job to Ms. Rivera's Culinary Arts students!

Engineering Visit

On March 21st, Brindley Engineering came to visit our Engineering students. Students heard about the different fields of engineering, participated in a hands-on demonstration, and were provided with a pizza lunch. Students enjoyed connecting with professionals in the field of engineering and were able to ask questions over lunch. Thank you to Brindley Engineering for spending part of the day with us!

EC Career Fair

On April 11th, we welcomed in over 20 different local employers and post-secondary institutions for our Spring Career Fair we hosted in partnership with Junior Achievement. Juniors and Seniors were invited to attend with their 5th period teachers. Students visited the different tables and were able to ask questions and even fill out job applications! We had 3 lucky winners who received a gift basket for getting all the signatures on their signature sheet from the different vendors.
