Conferences!
Hello WMS Parents and Guardians:
Thank You For Coming to Conferences!
The partnerships that form when parents, teachers, and students sit together and talk about progress are mighty! I truly appreciate those of you who were able to take the time to meet with our teachers this week to talk about your child's progress.
If you were not able to attend but still want information, please contact your child's teacher directly.
Enjoy your weekend!
Tim
Dear Wredling Families
We are excited to have our Kane County judges, Judge Hull and Judge Parga, present to our families October 12th at 5:00 pm in the WMS Cafeteria on "Worries of the World Wide Web". Please join us to preview what your student(s) will hear on October 13 at our first assembly of the year. “Worries of the World Wide Web” is a 50-60 minute program created to address the increasing problem of cyber bullying, electronic harassment, and sexting/pornography. The program is geared toward middle school and addresses the social and legal consequences of this potentially criminal conduct with a goal of increasing awareness of what cyberbullying, harassment, and sexting is; and how it may impact the lives of those students who participate in these activities.
District 303 alumni Judges Sandra Parga and Clint Hull created the program after talking to middle school teachers who indicated that their students were being negatively impacted through their use of social media. Judge Parga and Hull along with other Kane County Judges have been presenting the program throughout Northern Illinois Counties to both students and their parents for the past six years. In 2016-17, the Illinois Judges Association (IJA) worked with Judges Boles and Hull and expanded the program statewide. The first training session for the program was conducted in January of 2017 where over seventy judges were trained to give this presentation. The program was recently updated in 2022. You may opt your student out of this assembly by emailing: melissa.hickman@d303.org
Things to Note:
6th Grade Physicals
If you have not turned in your child’s 6th grade physical and proof of required immunizations, please do so as soon as possible. The state of Illinois requires that all students enrolled in 6th grade be up to date with age-appropriate immunizations and have proof of a physical exam. These medical records will be required no later than Friday October 13, 2023. Failure to comply with these requirements will result in your child’s exclusion from school on Monday October 16, 2023. If you have any questions or need assistance in meeting these requirements, please contact the Wredling Middle School Health office at 331-228-3704.
Just a reminder:
Saints Helping Hawks is our afterschool tutoring program! If your child needs help with assignments or homework, send them to SHH on Tuesdays and/or Thursdays in the LRC until 4:40. Email Mrs. Batka, Ms. Brummel, Mrs. Gonzalez, and/or Mr. Vale for more information.
Students and ID Charges
Our expectation is that students have IDs with them and present them when requested, particularly anytime they leave the classroom. Please note that after the second free ID, we start charging students $5 for each ID. Please encourage your student to leave their ID in their backpack.
Kleenex Needed!
if you did not send your child with Kleenex (facial tissue), please send that now. With allergy season here, and cold seasons coming, Kleenex is at a premium. Or, if you have a few boxes sitting around, please have your child drop them in the office. THANK YOU!
