Dear Parents/Guardians,

We are closing out our first trimester of the 2023-2024 school year on November 10. Report cards will be posted on the Parent Portal on Friday, November 17. There is always a lot of learning happening in each of our classrooms here at Steeby. Students have started their reading and math intervention groups and they are getting what they need each day. We refer to the interventions as W.I.N. because we believe it is very important for each student to get exactly "What I Need" for math and reading.

We are continuing to focus on learning and practicing appropriate behaviors at school. Teachers have been working on ensuring positive behavior is rewarded with positive rewards. Students collect Supercat Tickets for exhibiting expected behaviors and they are then able to shop at our school store and purchase things with their tickets. Ask your child what it means to be a Supercat!

As the cold weather arrives, please be sure your child comes to school with the proper outer gear for recess. We will go outside for recess unless the temperature/wind chill is below 0 degrees. Children are not allowed to stay in for recess for lack of appropriate cold weather gear.

If you could use some assistance in obtaining the proper outer gear for your child, please contact the Steeby Office at 269-792-2281 and we will assist you with whatever we can.

Please note that if you need us to get a message to your child regarding a change for their end of day routine, we will need you to contact the office at 269-792-2281 before 3:15 P.M. If we get any calls received after that time we cannot guarantee that your child will get that message since things get very hectic in the office at the end of the day.

Happy November! It is picture book month! So we are celebrating by reading and watching books that won a Caldecott award. The Caldecott award is for best illustrations in a picture book. This week we are reading Caldecott winners. Next week we will start reading books that may win in January for our Mock Caldecott. Only one book can take home the gold Caldecott sticker. We will find out the winners at the end of January. Students have also been practicing logging into the computers with their unique username and passwords. They are improving every week. Did you know that Steeby Paper Gator gets funding for the paper that we collect for our school? Please start saving your paper at home and bring it in to the Gator, it will help us to earn money for Steeby!! Anyone in the community can deposit the items listed below in the Paper Gator. The Paper Gator is located behind Steeby in the wooden fenced in area. The Paper Gator will be the green dumpster.
