We have had so many smiles on our campus. I truly enjoyed seeing many of you at BTS Movie Night sponsored by PTA. Yesterday students were also smiling and excited for picture day. The staff and I look forward to having you at Back to School Night on Thursday.

There is a feature allowing you to report your child's absence online, to make it easier and more convenient for our Emerson families. Additionally, you can even upload Dr. notes, Dentist or Orthodontist notes, or anything else needed to clear your child's absence. Please note that it may take up to 48 hours for the absence to show its been cleared. Please expect to receive a phone call even after the absence has been reported.

Please take the time to review the 1st Day Parent Packet and then complete the 2023-2024 1st Day Packet Contents contract confirming that you have reviewed all of the information. Several items in the packet will require the Parent/Guardian to go onto their ParentVue account to complete the Student Annual Verification. This is very important as it is now required to be completed annually to ensure all of your students information, as well as the emergency contact information, is up to date. Instead of sending home paper emergency cards, the District is going digital to ensure that parents have access to update their information as needed so that in an emergency situation, we always have the most up-to-date contact information.

The office will be reaching out to families in the next couple of weeks to ensure that this is being completed by all of our Emerson families.

All students are required to wear a uniform at Emerson. Our uniform consists of red, white, or navy blue collared shirts or blouses, school spirit t-shirts, and navy blue or khaki shorts, skirts, and jumpers. Shoes must have closed toes and heels and should be suitable for physical education and play. No flip flops or sandals. A more detailed description of the dress code can be found on our school website

We love seeing you walk your pets to school with your student(s) but we have a few reminders.

• Pets are not allowed on campus in the walkways leading to gates and beyond
• Please do not allow students to pet your pet
• Please clean up after your pet.

TK & Kinder parents starting Sept. 5th parents may drop of their students on the TK/Kinder playground starting at 8:30am but you may not stay with them due to the small space of the playground. We have staff out for supervision and will make sure that the students are safe and get to class.

If you would like to wait with your child you may do so outside of the Josie Hallway doors near the classrooms. The doors will open at 8:55am for students to enter.

Safety concern: More parents are driving the wrong way on the one way street off of Willow, please adhere to all parking and directional signs at all times. Also we noticed a few cars unattended in the middle of the street can cause traffic to back up and possible accidents. Please do not park in the bus loading zone or in red zone, or turn your hazards on and leave your car double parked and unattended with/without other children inside. Safety is our utmost concern, and we thank you in advance for making sure we keep everyone safe and ticket free. Our school neighbors have kindly asked that we remind parents to NOT block their driveways when dropping off and picking up, OR, leave any children in their cars unattended while walking to drop off other siblings to the school campus.

Well done, Eagles! We made it to our goal of 400 members in just THREE WEEKS!

We have one week left of our membership drive and at the end we will be selecting both our winning classroom and student principal for the day winners.

The winning classroom with the most memberships will earn a pizza + movie party. The winning student with the most memberships will earn principal for the day!

In accordance with Board Policies 5145.7 (Sexual Harassment), 5145.9 (Hate-Motivated Behaviors), 5131.2 (Bullying Prevention), and 5142.52 (Suicide Prevention), students will review key procedures and processes to support a safe and welcoming environment. Ms. Lang our school counselor will facilitate these lessons and send communications prior to the start of the lessons.

We need to know how to reach you! Please make sure you provide the most accurate information to receive texts, e-mails or phone calls, and in case of an emergency. Parents are now required to verify or update their information, including emergency contacts, online in their ParentVue account. We will no longer send home emergency cards.
