PARP WEEK AT ROSLYN ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS
Roslyn Elementary Schools participated in a fun week of reading activities in celebration of
Pick-A-Reading Partner (PARP) Week from January 22-26.
On Monday, January 22, 2024, teachers at Heights Elementary School put on a show called Readers Theatre to kick off PARP week. The children loved seeing their teachers act out characters from their favorite books. During the week, they drew pictures of their favorite book characters and were tasked with reading a book to a stuffed animal, toy, or pet.
On Thursday, January 25th, Heights held its second annual PARP Guest Reader event. Administrators from across the District visited classrooms to read Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus, by Mo Willems.
Harbor Hill Elementary School plans to celebrate the love of reading with its students on National Read Across America Day in March.

BACK TO THE 1980s
Students, faculty, and staff at Heights School dialed back the clock to the 1980s to commemorate the 80th day of school in style. Neon colors, headbands, leg warmers, and 80s-era jewelry were seen all over the school. The building buzzed with excitement with a hallway scavenger hunt that had students learning the lingo of the 80s and encountering iconic items like Game Boys, roller skates, and boom boxes.
