What's Happening in Math Classes
6th Grade: The sixth grade math department is currently wrapping up their unit on exponents and order of operations. They will soon be transitioning into working with prime factorization, greatest common factor and least common multiple as they wrap up Chapter One.
7th Grade and Pre-Algebra: All students enrolled in Math-7 and Pre-Algebra have been developing an understanding of integer operations thru a story called “The Chef’s Hot and Cold Cubes.” This unique way of explaining how and why positive numbers work together will launch us into generalizing rules about integers and will be an integral part of our year-long work.
8th Grade and Algebra: All students enrolled in Math-8 and Algebra are currently working on solving Algebraic Equations. This includes one-step equations, multi-step equations, equations with variables on both sides of the equal sign and literal equations. After completing this unit, students will begin to graph equations.
Geometry: Our Geometry students are currently establishing the vocabulary that will guide their work this year, as well as covering the basics of Geometry.
