Next Week: New Jersey Student Learning Assessments (NJSLA)
Grades 5 and 8
- Students in grades 5 and 8 will participate in the NJSLA for Language Arts, Math, and Science between May 8th and May 18th.
Grades 6 and 7
- Students in grades 6 and 7 will participate in the NJSLA for Language Arts and Math between May 8th and May 12th.
All students in grades 5-8 will need headphones or earbuds, which cannot be wireless, for these assessments. If your child does not have a pair of headphones or earbuds at school, please send in a pair from home.
The only electronic device students are permitted to use during NJSLA is their school-issued Chromebook. If your child has a cell phone, smartwatch, or any other electronic device, it will need to be turned off and in his/her locker during the testing sessions.

The International Food Festival
Scholastic Book Fair at CDW: May 17th
CDW is holding a Spring Book Fair on May 17th and May 18th in the Rossi Gym. This is a great opportunity for your child(ren) to stock up on books for the summer!
The book fair will be open during the school day for students to shop on Wednesday, May 17th as well as during the spring concerts on both nights, May 17th and May 18th, from 7:00-8:30 PM.
Students can purchase items using a credit card, a check made out to OTPTO, cash or ewallet. Use this link for more information about the easy-to-use, convenient ewallet feature https://bookfairs.scholastic.com/content/fairs/ewallet.html.

Reminders and Updates from CDW's Student Manager
SUMMER SKILL-BOOSTER PROGRAM
We are excited to offer the Summer Skill-Booster Program again this summer to all Old Tappan students currently enrolled in Kindergarten through Grade 8. Sessions have been set, and it is time to register! Click here to find more information about the program and links to register for a summer session. Space is limited so register early! Registration closes on June 30, 2023.
Keep in mind when signing up for a session, the AM sessions are designed to review the material presented to your child(ren) in his/her current grade level (If your child is in 5th grade, sign him/her up for a 5th grade session.). The PM sessions are designed to preview material for your child(ren)'s next grade level (If your child is in 5th grade, sign him/her up for a 6th grade session.).

CDW Baseball
On Wednesday, May 3rd, the baseball team traveled to Haworth Middle School for another victory. Every batter reached base safely in the game!
Next week the baseball team will travel to Harrington Park on Monday, Northvale on Tuesday, and will be home on Thursday at Stone Point Park. All games start at 3:45 AM.
CDW Softball
CDW Track
The CDW track team began their season yesterday with wins over Harrington Park and Northvale. The outstanding athletes at the meet were Caroline Ognibene who won the 100 and 400, placed second in the long jump, and anchored the girls 4x200 relay team to a first place finish. Matt Kosmark doubled down winning both the 800 and 1600 and placed third in the long jump. Adam Mai was first in the disc and second in the shot put. Andreas Antopolous was first in the 400 and third in the discus. Alexa Caunedo doubled in the shot and disc placing first in each event.
Other point scorers were Scott Houba, Stefan Wiklinski, Koda Augustyn, Brooke Pearson, Leila Hilmo, Christina D'Andrea, Omar Ahmad, Guy Geallat, Megan Collins, Paul Alzapiedi, Michael Kornett, Kyle Gagliano, Ginny Choi, Guybeen Noh, Maiumi Quiros, and Hannah John.
It was an excellent start to the season!
The next meet is on Friday, May 12th at at Northern Valley Demarest High School.

Please note details regarding dropping off the donated items:
- For nonperishable foods and supplies (coffee, sugar, utensils, etc,) please drop off anytime during the school day on Friday, May 5th to the front office of either school labeled for the specific buffet.
- For refrigerated foods (butter, creamer, cream cheese, etc) you can choose to deliver to the front office of either school the morning of (see times below) or anytime in advance to either Donna's house for TBD or Nicole's house for CDW.
- For freshly made baked goods (bagels, croissants, etc) please bring to main office of either school during the following times: Breakfast Buffet between 7:15 and 8am on Monday, May 8th; Dessert Buffet between 10:30 and 11:15am on Wednesday, May 10th. Please do not wait until school drop off for the breakfast items as the teachers will likely enjoy the buffet prior to the start of the school day.

Attendance
In an effort to minimize the potential spread of illness at school, please keep your child home if he/she:
- has a fever. Students should be fever-free for 24 hours without medication prior to returning to school.
- is nauseous or is vomiting.
- has diarrhea.
