Dear Father Doyle Families,

It's been another great week at Father Doyle! From the cross country course to the classroom and everything in between, amazing things are happening here.

As I write, I can hear the bustle of middle school students in the cafeteria. They are attending a "Paint & Pepsi" event with Mr. Godin and will soon embark upon their annual trip to the Haunted Labyrinth. In some ways it is an incredible thing - thirty plus middle schoolers spending a Friday afternoon with paintbrushes in hand. Yet, it is also represents the best of our school community. There is much joy and laughter and - while there will certainly be a bit of mess made along the way - the end result, the final canvas, is something uniquely beautiful.

In the week ahead, may we all not be afraid to make a little mess in the pursuit of what is good, true and beautiful.

Updates and Reminders:

• In accordance with our current Dress Code Policies, warm weather uniform options, including shorts, are to be worn through Columbus Day and again after April Vacation. Exceptions will be made for days over 80 degrees
• Save the Date! The Annual FJVD Veterans Day Service will be held Thursday, November 9th beginning at 6:30pm. Additional information, including options for purchasing flags and providing names of service men and women will be available soon!

Our Parish's biggest fundraising event, the Snowflake Bazaar, is just 1 week away, Saturday October 21 from 9am to 4pm and Sunday, October 22 from 8am to 1pm. We hope you can stop by and check out all the crafts, great food, children's games, as well as Santa and, on Sunday afternoon, TWO cows in the Cows Chip Bingo field in front of the school! Volunteers are needed to help work the bazaar, and middle school students can earn service hours working in the children's area. If you or your child can help, please call the Rectory Office at 821-5764. More info on the Bazaar in the days to come!

We are now offering spirit-wear on our uniform site, not through SquadLocker. This should alleviate long shipping/processing times and provide high quality spirit wear at a slightly discounted cost. We will continue to add items in the coming weeks, so be sure to check back often!

Our Annual Spooktacular is coming up!

Date: October 28, 2023

Time: 6:00 - 7:00

Come dressed in your best costume and join us for a Halloween Celebration! Please sign-up below to be part of the fun! We are looking for families to decorate their trunk and hand out candy! Don’t want to decorate, but willing to donate candy? Bring it in by October 19th!

Everyone is welcome to join us on October 28th to Trick or Treat and enjoy the sights! We will have our Middle School decorated pumpkins on display. Please RSVP here by October 21st if you plan to join us in any way. Let us know if you will be trick or treating, decorating a trunk, and/or donating candy! Please email fjvdpto@fjvd.org with any questions.

Additional information for those who sign up to decorate a trunk will be sent on the 22nd.

We're excited for another great year of Extended Day Care! Please find the welcome letter below from our coordinator, Ms. Ciera. There are lots of fun activities and themes prepared for the upcoming months!

As a reminder, the Extended Day Policies and Procedures can be found here. When picking up for extended day, please call the extended day line at 401-262-0271. An extended day staff person will direct you to the appropriate pick-up location either the west wing/middle school entrance (to the left of the main entrance) or an outdoor play space.

Calling all alumni and current families! As many of you know, our longtime and beloved building aid, Mrs. Moone, retired at the start of this year, and the SSJP/FJVD Alumni Committee is looking to create a book of memories for her. Sadly, she was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer earlier this year, and we though this would be a funs surprise and something that she would definitely enjoy as she goes through treatment. But we need your help! Please share with use your favorite memories of Mrs. Moone and share the link with others in the SSJP/FJVD Community

October 24th is Picture Day at FJVD! Students do not need to wear their uniforms. No need to pre-register. New this year: Family Mini-Sessions will be held on November 7th from 2:45pm - 6:05pm. This is a great opportunity for Christmas pictures! Bring the whole family, take sibling pictures or both! Register here.

Home Projects for the Month of October:

Home projects are broken down by grade level groupings. These are not required and rarely involve a material project, but rather include an opportunity to discuss and practice the virtues as a family. You can find the home projects for the Month of September here.

A reminder that Father John V. Doyle School is a peanut and tree-nut free school. For the safety of all students, we ask that children not bring snacks and other food items to school that contain peanuts and/or tree nuts. This includes peanut butter, nutella, and granola bars containing peanuts or tree nuts.
