North Syracuse Central School District's weekly e-news
Issue #60 | April 8, 2022
Hello North Syracuse Central School District Parents, Guardians, Teachers and Staff,
It has been an incredibly busy week with our Board of Education adopting a $188.4 million budget proposal at their meeting on Monday and our schools preparing for spring recess. Although I wasn't able to get any photos with students this week, I've had several chances to interact with students and their families. At this week's junior high school Honor Society Induction and last week's high school induction, it was wonderful to see students, families and staff together once again. We've all worked so hard to get us to this point and it feels great to celebrate that togetherness.
This week, at our Legislative Committee, I heard from several student committee members and I want to tell you how impressed I am with them. In Legislative Committee meetings we discuss the state of the District's budget and address questions and concerns that members bring to the table on behalf of their constituents. It is quite apparent that our student representatives are largely involved and invested in the budget process. I want to commend them and their parents and teachers for cultivating their commitment to civic responsibility. Our high school teachers do a great job with student civic engagement.
At our meeting, we discussed ways to encourage eligible students to get out and register to vote. Our student representatives jumped right in and offered to assist in getting the word out. That willingness to help should be commended. A suggestion was made to use a QR code as a way for students to easily access registration information so in lieu of a picture this week, I am sharing that code.
Spring recess is our final extended break of the school year so I know that the next few months will go by quickly. With that in mind, I wish you a restful and rejuvenating break and a Happy Spring. Enjoy your time with family and friends.
Sincerely,
Daniel D. Bowles, Superintendent of Schools

The colorful and creative works on currently on display in the school's library.
Help NSEEP Throw some Shade, as They Play to Learn!!
Last summer, the North Syracuse Early Education Program launched its re-envisioned and renovated playground serving the program’s 240 students, as well as the larger community in Onondaga County, New York. This inclusive, fully accessible playground was carefully designed around the needs of children with a myriad of developmental disabilities and those of typically developing children. Our students have spent many happy hours at the playground during the school day and many children and their families have enjoyed it At other times, as it is open to the public.
The NSEEP is hoping to raise funds to add shad structures to the beautiful 'still new' playground and has started a GoFundMe page for the cause. Click here to learn more about the project and link to the GoFundMe page.

C-NS Students Raise Money for Contact Community Services
During the weeks of February 7, students in the Cicero-North Syracuse High School Principal’s Cabinet, with support from the school’s new “The Hidden Opponent” club, celebrated P.S. I Love You week. P.S. I Love You Week is a movement to bring awareness to the importance of mental health and decrease bullying. Click here to read a previous article.
