Happy New Year 2024
Franklin Academy-Pembroke Pines
As the clock strikes midnight on Sunday December 31st, 2023, New Year’s Eve, voices all over the world will resurrect the centuries-old tradition of singing “Auld Lang Syne” to say goodbye to the passing year, 2023. “Auld Lang Syne,” roughly translates to “times gone by,” was written by Scottish poet Robert Burns in 1788. It is thought to have been based on a Scottish folk song.
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
And never brought to mind?
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
And auld lang syne.
For auld lang syne, my jo,
For auld lang syne.
We’ll tak a cup o’ kindness yet,
For auld lang syne.
