February has arrived at Freedom. We have Presidents’ Day, Valentine’s Day, and more tours scheduled for many interested families considering joining Freedom. Our current Eagle count is 48 clients in the making to be world savers! We are also excited to report we have an enrollment list started for the 24/25 school year, boasting an additional dozen or so Eagles, and the list continues to grow daily. On that note, I wanted to take a moment to thank you for spreading the word about the career planning and educational support we are offering high schoolers here at The Freedom Institute. Your endorsement and promotion of our high school homeschool support program, which is proving highly successful for our Eagles, is a huge reason for our positive growth of so many amazing young people. The word is reaching far and wide, as we have an incredibly special visitor coming later this month to speak to our Eagles. Stay tuned for more information on that in the days ahead…

I am thrilled to share the excitement surrounding the great start to our second semester. Congratulations to the many students embarking on their first semester in college; this is a remarkable achievement reflecting their hard work and dedication. Special kudos to Addison, who is commencing her volunteer work at Fun Time Early Childhood Academy tomorrow, showcasing a commendable commitment to community service. Additionally, I want to highlight Sarah for her active engagement in personal growth, having recently signed up for the Young America's Foundation, demonstrating a dedication to diverse perspectives and meaningful discussions. It is a great time to be an Eagle!

For ELA, we began our literature study using Ray Bradbury's dystopian novel, Fahrenheit 451. Students are split into multiple literature groups and complete roles such as: Discussion Leader, Diction Detective, Bridge Builder, Reporter, and Artist. Students also engage in an interactive workbook, play Jeopardy and Kahoot games to review the three main parts of the book, and create collaborative vocabulary PowerPoints.

For Consumerism, students continue to engage in financial literacy conversations, Kahoot games/competitions, activities, etc. This past month students really focused on the topics of Student Loans, College Planning, and Banking/Financial Services.

We continue to dive into Career topics including, but not limited to: Career Success Plans, Resumes, Guest Speaker Research/Questions, and Guest Speaker Reflections. Some students continue to participate in career-based internships as well.

As always, I am thankful to work with such a great group of high schoolers every day!

For Civics, we are reading and watching Hillsdale videos about the Federalist Papers. These 85 newspaper articles and essays have been put together in a book. Their purpose was to help gain support for the ratification of the constitution.

In Algebra, we are building on slope, slope intercept, and graphing points on a graph.

In Geometry, we are proving triangles are congruent through theorems. Once we prove they are congruent, we solve for missing angles or side measurements.

We are very proud of all of our students who are off and running with spring semester dual enrollment courses! We are excited to watch them grow their college resumes while still in high school.

We very much enjoyed Governor Scott Walker's visit to Freedom! We learned a lot about the political process and about leadership opportunities through Young America's Foundation (YAF).

We love working with our students on a daily basis!
