School Community Newsletter 1/20/2020
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Each year on the third Monday of January, America pays tribute to the birth, life, and dream of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. with a Federal Holiday. This is a time to remember the injustices that Dr. King fought and to recognize his fight for the freedom, equality, and dignity of all races and peoples through nonviolence. Today we honor and celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.!
When we return to school tomorrow, Tuesday, 1/21 we will start the 3rd Quarter. To wrap up the 2nd quarter the staff completed our annual Winter Data Day reviews. For these data reviews, the core teachers met with school administrators and our Response to Intervention Coordinator to carefully analyze student achievement and growth. A variety of data including winter benchmarking assessments and information on grades, attendance, behavior reports, and school readiness skills were reviewed. Students can enter or exit interventions as a result. School personnel has communicated with parents and guardians of children impacted.
This time of year also brings about the start of the girl's volleyball season and has our wrestling team with two wins in their first two competitions. The next two Fridays, 1/24 & 1/31 our Ski Club will venture to Wilmot Mountain. On Saturday, 1/25 select musicians will attend the AIJB Band Festival and on Saturday, 2/1 TMS will host the Jazz Jamboree.
We are proud that our students are flourishing inside and outside of our classrooms. Creating well-rounded and balanced learners is our goal. The students are halfway done with the school year and they continue to hard work each day. Thank you for the support you are giving them. If you feel your child could benefit from extra support, please encourage your child to stay after school for Homework Club or 11th Hour or Office Hours on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, or Thursdays.
