The Central Catholic Saints
Week ending January 19, 2024
What a cold week!
My goodness, it has been a cold and snowy week here in Indianapolis. The students have been amazing and very understanding that it is too cold to go outside.
Please make sure that your student is dressed appropriately to go outside and play for 30 minutes. We go outside to play everyday - unless it is raining or colder than 25 degrees. Next week the weather will be warmer and we will be heading back outside for recess!
This is from our Student and Family handbook:
Recess
Recess is offered each day to students. It is an opportunity for the children to develop social skills and learn new games. It is viewed as an opportunity to teach children. Children go outside for recess everyday unless it is raining or if the temperature or wind chill is below 25 degrees. Please have students dress appropriately for the weather conditions. During the winter this would include a coat, hat and gloves.
100th Day of School!
Wednesday January 24th is the 100th day of school!
Students can dress up like they are 100 years old, have 100 things on their clothing or where a shirt that says 100 days of school.
Reminder - Weather - 2 hour delay/ closing
Parents I would like to remind everyone of our weather related delay and closing policy.
When we have inclement weather and need to delay or close school, we will send out school messenger and a Smore Newsletter no later than 6am. (Your child's teacher may also send out a message with emergency delay or closing information.)
If Central Catholic needs to call a 2 hour delay due to weather, school will begin at 9:30am. The doors will open at 9am for breakfast and there will be NO before care.
This is from our handbook:
Emergency Closings
When in doubt as to whether school will be open due to severe weather conditions, a School Messenger message will be sent by the office. You may also watch for an announcement on channels 6, 8 & 13 and their corresponding websites. Every effort is made to notify the media by 6:00 am. Please listen for Central Catholic School to be announced. On days when we are on a two-hour delay, NO Before School Care will be available.
Digital Report Cards
Digital report cards were sent out this week to all families. If you are having trouble accessing your students report card please contact the office.
We would like for all parents to have a Power School account, but you do not need to have an account to access your students report card.
These report cards will only last digitally 7 to 10 days. After that time you will not longer be able to access them. You are able to download the report card to your phone, tablet or computer to save the report card.
If you have a question about a students grade, please reach out to your students classroom teacher.
Student Headphones
Parents, your students need headphones for testing. All students Kindergarten through 8th grade
If your child has does not have a pair of working headphones at school, please send a pair in with them. Spring is the season of standardized tests. This includes WIDA, IRead and ILearn. We also use IReady on a daily basis. These tests all require headphones so the students may hear what is being said.
If you have questions about this, please contact the office.
It is that time - Re enrollment!
Central Catholic School will begin re enrollment for current students and pre k students on Monday January 29th. In order to re enroll your students, your tuition account will need to be current.
On Monday February 12th, we will open enrollment to new families.
Register early to hold your students spot. Classes are capped at 28 students.
