Character Trait of the Month
Our NEW Character Strong trait for APRIL is Courage. Check out what each grade level is working on!
A Message from the Principal
Hello Hoover Families,
After two rounds of voting from students and staff, the winning color palette for our new playground is ISLAND OASIS! Our new playground will be installed this fall, about mid-September (this is due to the length of time it takes for the playground vendor to process, produce and ensure the equipment is ready to be installed safely). It will take approximately two weeks to remove the old equipment and install the new one. During this time, our students and staff will use the blacktop and grassy areas away from the playground.
The playground will still be accessible for students in our A+ summer programming.

World Arts Celebration Night Locker Pennants
Families, please take some time to talk with your child(ren) about their culture and heritage. We would love for you to help them decorate their locker pennants with pictures/drawings/words about their language, culture, traditions, and heritage. All of us come from amazing families with history, whether it started here in North America or it began on continents across the world; we want to showcase the unique and amazing students that walk our Hoover hallways every day!
The pennants will be hung on student lockers for all to see. When you are done, please send them back to school to hang up and be celebrated. Please return them by Thursday, April 27th.

Winter Weather Updates
Please ensure students have dressed appropriately for the weather - jackets, snow pants, hats, gloves/mittens, and proper shoes/boots. Students will be going out for recess. The guideline for keeping children inside for recess will be zero degrees or 10 degrees below zero wind chill. Accommodations for children with special medical needs can be made with the Health Services office; written documentation from a doctor will be required.
The safety of all students is the priority when determining if schools should stay open in extreme winter weather. The decision to close school is serious, affecting many working families who would have to take a day off work or find daycare on short notice. Read more about where to get information on school closings due to weather and how cold it must be for the school to close.
Transportation Updates
As a reminder for our families with students riding buses, you can find information about the district's transportation services at https://www.ahschools.us/transportation and how to download the FirstView Transportation App to get real-time bus updates. Remember that the app might not be as accurate/updated when there are substitute bus drivers.
