Happy National Principals Month!!!
I hope you will join me this month in celebrating the outstanding contributions of our school leaders. National Principals Month is an opportunity to recognize the roles principals play in our schools and communities. I want to particularly recognize their significant contributions throughout the many disruptions presented by the pandemic. DC Public Schools is grateful to have dedicated, talented leaders who lead our schools.
DCPS Updates From Chancellor Ferebee
MAYOR INVESTS ADDITIONAL $22M IN DCPS COVID-19 MITIGATION STRATEGY
Yesterday, Mayor Bowser announced that she is allocating an additional $22 million to DCPS to strengthen our layered mitigation strategy over the school year and hire an additional staff person for every school to support COVID-19 response operations. DCPS will also double the size of its COVID-19 response team. The funding builds on the Mayor’s significant investment of more than $300 million for COVID-19 recovery and health and safety operations in DCPS schools. In addition to positions supporting the COVID-19 mitigation efforts, funding will also be allocated to expand the substitute teacher pool.
FLU SHOTS NOW AVAILABLE AT SELECT COVID-19 VACCINATION SITES
DC Residents can now receive their flu shot at select COVID-19 vaccination sites across the city. We strongly encourage everyone to receive their flu shot as soon as possible to reduce the chances of getting the flu or spreading it to others. Like the COVID-19 vaccine, flu shots are also free at walk-up vaccination sites.
PARENT UNIVERSITY: COLLEGE PREP RESOURCES ON OCTOBER 19 AT 5:30 PM

TELEPHONE TOWNHALL ON OUR COVID-19 RESPONSE: OCTOBER 20 AT 5:00 PM
Join us for the third and final townhall about our COVID-19 response efforts this fall at schools. On October 20 at 5:00 p.m., hear from DCPS staff on keeping our buildings safe and preventing the spread of COVID-19 through our layered mitigation strategy. You can watch the previous townhalls, which covered COVID-19 testing at school and how DCPS responds to a COVID-19 positive case at school online.
