MSAA Matters
May Voume I
May 7, 2020
Dear Colleagues,
As always, MSAA hopes this May edition of MSAA Matters finds each of you well, as well as your family, friends, students, and staff! It has been a most challenging seven and a half weeks, and I continue to be in awe of your compassion, organization, thoughtfulness, and pure grace during the Corona Virus Crisis. MSAA is dedicated to supporting each of you in any way we can. We do this through our weekly virtual gatherings, our professional development, through email or just pick up the phone and give us a call - YOUR association is here for you!
Coming up this month, see below for some exciting opportunities for you.
Tuesday, May 12th at 11 AM the MSAA Special Education Gathering is hosting DESE Special Education Director, Russell Johnston. He will be addressing ESY among other relevant topics. See weekly email with Ring Central links.
Wednesday, May 20th from 1 - 3 PM Dr. Nicole Christian Brathwaite will be presenting on preparing for the transition back to school in the fall. Dr. Brathwaite will give a presentation on using a trauma responsive lens to support adults and children's social emotional well being. This is targeted for administrators of PK-8 students. MSAA has partnered with DESE's Early Lead Learning Team to coordinate this event. Register.
Speaking of DESE, if you have not visited their website recently it's new front page design is very user friendly and organized by category. It has a section called Ideas and Resources for Families, Ideas, and Resources for Educators both replete with sub categories. DESE website.

On a final note, please find a plethora of articles I have curated over the last few weeks that I thought would be helpful resources for you. There are eight articles ranging from Zoom Fatigue to nine ways schools will look different, to principals finding novel ways to show their love and support for their students. Read at your leisure and your interest.
Stay safe.
Warm Regards,
Beth
