Notes from the Principal
Dear North Berwick families,
Just a gentle reminder about dress code policy per our student handbook. Parents will be contacted if a student needs a change of clothes or a gently used item will be provided for them from our school clothes closet.
DRESS CODE
Students should come to school dressed for the appropriate weather. Students’ dress should not distract from the educational process. This includes:
1. Clothing which portrays or promotes alcohol, tobacco, or other drugs
2. Articles of clothing that include insulting words or symbols (e.g. racial/ethnic slurs)
3. Clothing that distracts student learning
4. Tops or shorts which do not cover the torso (crop tops)
Children need to be able to run and play during recess and PE, for safety reasons, flip-flops and other unsecured footwear are not recommended.
The above guidelines have been established with your children in mind. If clothing is determined to be inappropriate, you will be called to bring alternative clothing for your child if none is available at school.
In addition to the above policy, with the weather getting colder and our playgrounds now covered in snow, it is important that students come to school prepared to play outside. Students should have coats, snow pants, boots, hats, and gloves or mittens.
All the best,
Ms. Jolly
