We hope this Newsletter serves to educate you on all of the amazing resources that our Lending Library has to offer your students. We are so thankful for all of you who have used our Library site to find fun and engaging books, games, manipulatives and instruments.
Our Library is ONLINE ONLY.
We cannot allow for families to go down the halls and shop through our rooms at this time.
Our Office Hours for pick up and drop offs of library items as well as curriculum returns are: Monday through Friday.

Below you will find tutorials on how to use the library website, pictures of some of our amazing items, and hopefully answers to all of your questions!

DID YOU KNOW YOU CAN LEAVE REVIEWS ON TITLES IN OUR LENDING LIBRARY?
Do you want a chance to receive some fun new incentives & books?
Log into our Heartland Lending Library Website and begin adding reviews to our games, books, and manipulatives! Leave a review or two or three (max 10 reviews per family this round).
Once you have completed your reviews you can email library@heartlandcharterschool.com and give us a list of the items you reviewed. We can then schedule a time for you to come in and select incentives/books or we will ship out incentives/books to your family if you live outside the Bakersfield area. Below are instructions on how to leave a review on an item.
Step 1
Find the item you would like to review and click on the stars to the right of the item.
Step 2
Click on the stars and leave a written review of the item and click submit.
Step 3
Email library@heartlandcharterschool.com and let us know which items you reviewed and if you would like to schedule a time to come in or have your incentives shipped to you!
Username: 5 digit ID Number
Password: (first time logging in, no password)

HOW DOES THE LIBRARY WORK?
If you are getting close to the due date and would like to keep it longer, you may renew each item for another year. Email Library@heartlandcharterschool.com to request a renewal
Once you have "reserved" the items you want the Bakersfield office will pull the items for you and contact you when the items are ready to be picked up.

* Some items cannot be shipped due to size, weight, or fragility. (No shipment of instruments , sewing machines, pottery wheels, microscopes.)

HOW DO I SET UP MY STUDENTS LIBRARY ACCOUNT?
Note: If you have multiple students, each student will have their own account and you will need to repeat the following steps for each one.
1) Go to the Library Website HERE also titled https://heartlandcharterschool.mlasolutions.com/
2) Select "Sign In"
3) Login: Type in your student 5 digit ID #
(that 5 digit number can be found attached to your students name on procurify or you can reach out to your HST)
Do Not Enter Password the FIRST TIME
4) Once logged in, click on "My Account"
5) Click "Change Login/ Password" - There you can create a password for your student
Your Students LOCAL ID will be the username moving forward so make sure you have that info saved somewhere.
HOW DO I HOLD A BOOK OR ITEM?
1) Find an item that you would like to check out through the search button, visual search buttons, or recommended reading lists.
2) Click on the Title of the book or item you would like to reserve
3) Click on a box next to one of the items and then click the Reserve Button and the item is automatically put on hold for you
* If the title says "0 out of _" then no book is available at this time but you have a chance to click on the "reserve" button and you will be placed on a wait list for the item.
*Only 2 people can be on the wait list at a time for 1 item.
* If you wish to cancel a "hold" or "reserve", click on "my account" at the top of the screen, and scroll down to your list of items and cancel the item..
5) Your student is allowed to have in their possession, 10 items at a time for one year.
1) Click on the Title of the book or item you would like to reserve
2) Click on a box next to one of the items and then click the Reserve Button and the item is automatically put on hold for you
3) Make sure you check the box next to the item that is "Available"
HOW DO I PICK UP MY LIBRARY ITEMS AFTER I HAVE REQUESTED THEM ONLINE?
Once the order in Bakersfield is ready, you will receive a phone call or email from your librarian to let you know your item is available to be picked up.
Our office hours are 9am-4pm for pick ups and drop offs.

If you are not in the Bakersfield area, our librarian will ship your items to you at no charge.
* shipping costs to and from the library are now FREE !
** Some items cannot be shipped due to size, weight, or fragility. (No shipment of instruments , sewing machines, pottery wheels, microscopes, telescopes, P.E. Equipment, cameras, 3D printers, .)
HOW DO I RETURN MY LIBRARY ITEMS?
When you are ready to return items or the due date is coming up on your library items:

If you live outside of the Bakersfield area and need to ship your items back to the Bakersfield library please fill out this Library Return Label Request Form to ship the items back to the Bakersfield Office.
You will receive an email reminding you of books/items that will be overdue to remind you to return your order to your library as soon as possible
Is there an OVER DUE POLICY? Yes, Yes there is!
Library Policy for Overdue Items:
Each student is given 10 items at a time for one year at a time.
Students are allowed to renew each item for another year if they would like
(please email library@heartlandcharterschool.com before the items are overdue to renew your item/s:)
* If a student does not return those items after their due date, the Librarian will contact each family directly to coordinate a drop off.
Once the student has been directly contacted by the Librarian they will be given a 10 day grace period to return the items . If the items are not returned after that 10 day window:
The students' Procurify account will be blocked from ordering items until those library items are returned.
The Student will be charged a late fee of $1 per item per week.
ie: 10 items at $1 per item = $10 Weekly Fee until the items are returned
The late fees will be deducted from student planning amounts.
If an item is claimed as lost, the family will need to pay an out of pocket fee for the lost item.
If the student does not return the items by the end of the school year, the family will be charged out of pocket for the cost of the items.
IF I DO NOT LIVE NEAR BAKERSFIELD, CAN MY ITEMS BE SHIPPED?
We are now offering FREE SHIPPING!
Shipping is an available option if you are not in the Bakersfield area.
We will contact you once the order is ready to be sent with the tracking number of your shipment!

- Feel free to put the Title/Subject/Author of the books or items you are looking for in the "search bar" or click the "Anywhere" button on the left to select your specific search option. You can get even more specific by clicking "Enhanced Search"
- You can find the Heartland Charter School Website, return label forms, flyers and more.
- Stay connected with our Updated Library Flyer/"Smore" giving dates and new information on the library
- Click on "Kids Catalog" on the top right to allow your kids to explore our site in a fun kid friendly way that will attract young library users and make their searches fun. Please note that they cannot check out books from this site but, kids can find what books might be available and add them to the book bag so parents know what the child would like to check out for them on the official site. They can click on authors name and see all of the items we have available under that author.
- You can also click on the Virtual Bookshelves button for books and items in individual categories.

- And check out our "Tips & Info" to stay updated on changes
