June 9 Newsletter

Friday, June 9
We have much to be thankful for and celebrate at the conclusion of our 2022-2023 school year. Since my arrival in November, I have enjoyed spending time in our buildings and classrooms. I am so proud of the teaching and learning that is taking place. This past school year, we saw progress toward proficiencies in our core content areas, specifically in literacy and mathematics. Through our collective efforts and working together, our goals can be achieved, which ultimately is student achievement for all.
Our families are an integral part of our student’s academic, social, and emotional success. I thank them for their unwavering support of their child(ren)’s education. We consider it a privilege to have their child(ren) a part of the School District of Beloit family. As I have stated several times, we are better together than we are apart. I look forward to our continued collaboration with our families.
Our students are enthusiastic learners who have worked hard this past year. From elementary through high school, our students have elevated our district locally, regionally, and nationally with academic achievements and honors, performing and creative arts awards, State of Wisconsin work-based learning recognition, philanthropic endeavors, and athletic competitions at the regional and sectional levels. Please take a moment to view these highlights and more. When talent meets hard work, nothing is impossible; our students have proven this to be true.
Our staff is committed to our student’s academic success and their social and emotional growth and well-being. This past year they supported our students with comprehensive resources, engaging learning environments, mentorship, coaching, and more. They developed and reinforced our student's curiosity, critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving. Our staff is actively preparing tomorrow’s leaders, innovators, and thinkers.
I am also grateful for our more than 1,000 volunteers and many community organizations and business partners who collaborate with our district and connect with our staff and students each and every day. The experiential learning opportunities in our schools, classrooms, and community are only possible with the support and participation of these valued partnerships and volunteers.
I wish the Class of 2023 all the best as they begin a new chapter in their lives. We have prepared them to be career, college, and community ready. We are happy that they will carry on the legacy of a Purple Knight. We are a better district, high school, and community because of their contributions in the classroom, on the sports field, on the stage, with our non-profits, and in our community.
Lastly, as we close out this school year, please know that we are taking time to reflect and prepare for the upcoming school year. My three priorities for our district remain resolute, student academic achievement, continuous improvement, and service at the highest level. Every conversation, decision, and plan for the 2023-2024 school year will focus on our students and these three priorities, including transparent, frequent and consistent communication.
Enjoy your summer break. Take time to unplug, unwind and enjoy connecting with family and friends. I hope to see many of our students during summer school; there is still time to register. #BeloitProud #OneBeloit
