GMSE House Shirts

Thank you PTA! The 6th graders were sorted into houses on Thursday last week and the PTA purchased shirts for them with their house name and color (as well as their new MIDDLE SCHOOL)! The shirts turned out great!

Wednesday 8/23 is our 1st House Meeting day... EVERYONE (6th, 7th & 8th graders) should wear their House Colors on Wednesday.

Reminder for Infinite Campus Update

Please complete your Emergency Medical Update ASAP! This is for the safety of your child while they are here at school ADDITIONALLY, this is required prior to your child attending a field trip as well.

Open House is Coming Up

Open House for each grade will take place in the coming weeks.

You will have a chance to meet your child's teachers, hear from the building administrators and counselors and see the new building renovations.

8th Grade News

All students have access to the 8th grade homework board posted in the”Study Hall” Google Classroom.
ELA students will be reading Tuesdays with Morrie in the upcoming weeks. Please make sure your student has a copy or requests one from their ELA teacher to borrow.
Reminder: All headphones must have a cord and be plugged into their computer.
Lunch is later in the day for 8th graders - make sure your child is eating breakfast in the morning!

7th Grade News

8/21 during gold period all students met in the library for a grade level meeting with teachers & admin to go over expectations for the year.
8/25 during gold period 7th grade students will have a fire drill (students will line up by houses for attendance this year!).
Families- Look for an email on 8/21 from your students’ homeroom teacher (8th period teacher) that includes an interest survey about your student
Families & students- read over book signature expectations sheet to sign and return to homeroom teachers by 8/25

6th Grade News

Sixth grade had a busy, but exciting first couple of days! Students were sorted in their Houses and began activities to get to know each other. Your child’s Houseparent(s) will be emailing you more details if they have not done so already. Open House/Curriculum Night for 6th grade will be this Thursday, August 24 from 6-7:30pm. You’ll have an opportunity to hear from our principals and travel your child’s schedule to meet the teachers and hear a little bit more about them and their course.

Also, be on the lookout for two Adventure Day permission forms to come home with your child this week. You can even volunteer to help out at Hannah Park on Friday, September 8, by filling out this form. More information to come regarding this FUN day for 6th graders!

Directions for After School Pick Up

FRIDAY last week WAS GREAT!! Thank you for being patient with each other and following the plan!!

When you come to pick up your GMSE student at the end of the day, please:

Use the entire loop as shown.
Pull up tight to the person in front of you in our pick up line.
These things will help keep all of the cars off of Clotts Road and allow for our buses to enter the lot.
If you would like to park in the basketball lot and wait for your student, that also works, but make sure the outer loop is free from parked cars.
After your student is loaded, exit via Clotts Road.
Lastly, BE CAREFUL! There are a lot of students and cars in the lot!
