Welcome back to the Summer Term
Happy St George's Day!
I hope that you had a lovely Easter break, it was a shame that it was so cold. It's lovely to see that we have a sense of normality returning to life at the moment with shops and leisure activities gradually returning. In school we are maintaining our current bubble system and disinfection regimes, I imagine that these will remain until the end of the summer term.
As wider society returns to normal operation, we are hoping to have some of our traditional events towards the end of term and will keep these in view as we wait for the Government to ease lockdown restrictions. If restrictions do ease we hope that the Y6 Play, Sports Day, Reception parent welcome meetings and the End of Year Mass will continue as usual with some modifications for additional safety measures. We will have to wait and see what is announced on the roadmap to recovery.
I'm glad to be back at work after my accident, thanks for all the emails and Dojo messages. Whilst I have permanently lost some flexibility of my right hand it is getting better each day.
I look forward to seeing you at some of the summer term events below, fingers crossed the pandemic road map continues as planned.
Parent Teacher Meetings
Please book just one meeting per child unless parents are separated in which case we quite understand that a second booking may be required. Where parents reside in one household please make one booking per child.
You can access the system through the link below. remember to sign in with your name as it is shown on the Pupil Asset school database system. Quite often families with hyphenated names can encounter difficulty. Please contact us if you have any difficulty through office@stcecilias.school, we will keep an eye on emails over the weekend so that we can help you.
Uniform
Following our consultation programme, we have changed our uniform provider from Clothesline to Price and Buckland. They are a national company based in Nottingham and will provide the service through their online shop.
You can access the shop through the link below.
The introduction of the new uniform has been delayed by the pandemic however the shop has now gone live online. We have made some changes to the options available to boys and girls and will be sending home a leaflet which makes our policy clear, we are currently ordering uniform and arranging for the brochure to be compiled.
We have chosen a new sports shirt (available from June) and shorts which more clearly reflect our house colour system, they will also look very smart when we compete with other schools. When ordering your house shirt it is important to order the right colour as we balance the number of children in each house across each year group. Children in reception classes will be placed into their house groups over the coming weeks. We always place siblings in the same house.
We would advise parents to wait for our uniform brochure before placing an order, however if you have an urgent need for a uniform item please use the link below. We will also provide links to other high street stores and supermarkets for non-badged uniform items.
Full implementation
We ask that all children are in the new uniform by April 2023, children can still wear our current uniform until that time.
End of term arrangements
As advised previously, Monday 14 June is a staff training day and the school is closed.
The end of term is now Wednesday 21 July at midday for Years R to 6.

The Big Pedal
On your marks, get set …… GO!
We are participating in Sustrans Big Pedal 2021, the UK’s largest inter-school cycling, walking and scooting challenge. We shall take part next week from 26 – 30 April and are looking to have as many of us as possible from our school to be involved.
On each day of the challenge, schools compete to see who can record the greatest number of pupils, staff and parents who either cycle, scoot or walk to school. By taking part, our school will enter a draw to win some great prizes!
The Big Pedal 2021 is a great way to get more of our pupils travelling actively to school and is a simple way to boost their physical and mental health. It is also a good chance for us to help our pupils to understand the importance of environmentally-friendly travel.
All you need to do is encourage your child(ren) to cycle, walk or scoot to school on as many days as possible during next week, and if you can, join them on their way. Please remind your children about bicycle safety, including the use of a helmet.
We hope to see everyone travelling safely in their family bubbles and that the weather stays dry.
The Sustrans have additional activities which you can complete at home as a family. These activities are on the web link below.
