Holiday Shop Is This Week!
It's almost time for the Holiday Shop! The kids love this event but in order for it to be successful we need volunteers to help it run smoothly. We will be running the shop Tuesday December 12th through Friday December 15th. Below you will find the sign up link if you would like to volunteer to help make this event successful. Please remember you must have your background paperwork in 48 hours prior to the event to get cleared for working in the school.
Information about shopping including the shop link for item preview, gift card purchase, etc was sent home this week. You can find a preview and purchase gift cards here.
District Climate Survey
The way students, families, teachers, and other school staff experience Fraser Schools and school-related activities affects student attendance, learning, and achievement.
As the district embarks on our next five-year strategic plan, it is critical to use data to develop our next steps. School Climate is an important part of that work. Therefore, we invite you to complete the parent survey from the US Department of Education’s School Climate Survey (EDSCLS). The district also uses this survey for both our School Improvement process and to support the next Strategic Plan. For more information and to see the survey questions, please visit the EDSCLS website.
The survey is open to all parents/guardians from now through December 18th. If you have children in multiple buildings, you may take the survey more than once. Each time you take the survey, it will ask for the building and grade level your child attends.
Your answers will be combined with the answers of other parents at the school and district levels, and used to create records about the climate of our schools. These reports will not identify any person or their responses.
Keep up the Routine of Attendance through the Holidays
As we prepare for the end of the first semester and winter break, we are grateful for everyone who has helped to restore a routine for showing up to school while supporting students and families.
Daily routines are essential for reducing stress and creating a sense of security for students and adults.
In Fraser, attendance rates continue to increase or hold steady at all our schools. More than 94 percent of students in Fraser were on Tier 1, which means they had missed 19 percent or less of the school days. That is an increase of more than 2 percentage points from the end of September.
Please take steps to keep your child healthy and send them to school unless they are truly sick. Every day of school is an important opportunity for students to learn and connect to peers and their teachers.
Attendance Works has put together a helpful list of tips to help keep your child healthy and in school.
We want to thank all our families, students, and staff for their continued support of our attendance initiatives.
Health Guidance For Going to School
We want to partner with our families to make our school a safe, healthy and welcoming environment for your students. Make sure to send your child to school if they are generally healthy and able to participate in their usual day-to-day activities. Avoid keeping children at home unless they are too sick to participate.
We have put together this helpful chart of when to keep your child home and when they can return to school for common illnesses.
Holidays Around the World
In first grade, we started our "Holidays Around the World" unit this week by learning about Hanukkah. We listened to stories to learn about various traditions of Hanukkah. We ended the week by trying latkes and applesauce and learning to play dreidel! It was so much fun!
Requesting a Change in Learning Mode
At this time, families are eligible to request to change the learning mode for their student(s) for the second semester of the 2023-2024 school year. Families that are currently enrolled in in-person can switch to virtual, and families who are enrolled in virtual can switch to in-person. If you do not wish to switch your child’s learning mode, no action is necessary.
Requests will be handled on a case-by-case basis. Submitting the form linked in this email does not guarantee a request will be granted. Requests will be reviewed by building and district leadership and the parent/guardian will be notified. If approved, the change will be effective for the second semester (January 8 - June 7, 2024). Once a request has been approved, it will be for the duration of the second semester. Please carefully consider this semester-long commitment before submitting this application, as requests to change during the second semester will not be granted.
Additionally, please note that we have partnered with third party providers for the students’ daily instruction. We utilize Lincoln Learning for our K-6 students and Edgenuity for 7-12. A Fraser teacher will be assigned as your child’s mentor to help check in, keep him/her on track, and align the grading system with Fraser’s. The bulk of your child's instruction will be online and course content will be delivered by Lincoln Learning and Edgenuity. For younger students, a learning coach will be a critical piece in their success. The learning coach needs to support your child with daily instruction, content delivery, and technology. Please note, the District may change your child’s learning mode if appropriate academic progress is not met throughout the semester.
If you are interested in changing your child’s learning mode for the second semester, please fill out the application linked below. You will need to submit one request for each student.

Parking Lot Reminders
We all know that the Disney parking lot is challenging at times, especially during the winter months. We understand that our dismissal can be stressful and intense with the high volume of car pickup students. From time to time it is important to review our procedures. If we all follow our parking lot procedures and practice patience, we will be able to quickly exit everyone safely
- Please stay all the way to the right in the pick-up line to allow others to enter the parking lot and thru traffic to pass
- Please refrain from parking anywhere other than designated parking spaces, this includes, parking in handicapped parking spots unless your handicap parking pass is properly displayed
- Please be distraction free - refrain from using cell phones, loud music, or other distracting activities. Pay attention and be on the lookout for people walking through the lots
- Please do not pull through the parking spaces to exit. Those parking should back out of parking spaces and utilize the thru traffic line to exit the parking lot.
- Please turn right on Kelly when exiting the parking lot for safety and to help assist with traffic flow.
- The driveway in the front of the school is for bus parking, emergency vehicles, and exiting traffic only. Please do not park or drop-off/pick-up students in the bus loop. Families may not park on Kelly and walk through the bus driveway at dismissal.
- Smoking and pets are not permitted on school grounds. Please leave your pets at home for the safety and comfort of all of our students and families.
