Do you have a CDL? Then we need you! The Johnson Band is looking for help driving our second trailer next year. If you qualify and are interested in helping, please contact Mr. Joey Lucita at Joey.Lucita@hayscisd.net.

The TMF online store is now open for replacement summer uniform items. The store will also carry duffel bags and other spirit items. The store will close June 9.

Freshmen/Rookie members will receive their entire summer uniform and water jug as part of their band/guard fees. Freshmen/Rookie members are strongly encouraged to order the duffel bag now for the fall.

Returning members will need to order their own uniform replacements or new sizes via the TMF store.

Welcome to the last Directors weekly newsletter for the summer! Can’t believe the year has already come to a close!!

As we are wrapping up the year, we have just a few items to acknowledge! First, we want to take a moment to recognize and celebrate these students for advancing to the Texas State Solo & Ensemble Contest! This puts them as some of the best performers in the state at the Region Solo & Ensemble Contest!

Jessa Owen, Jorge Galvan-Puente, Kyle Palfreyman, Jackson English, Kyra Bevil, Luke Torrey, Kyle Zetik, Nathan Mugan, Gabriel Mondragon, Owen Kroeger, Zephyr Rainey, Ethan Tibbits, Diego Elizalde, Sarah Dickerson, Rachel Andersen, & Ezra Machuca.

We would like to further acknowledge those that earned a SUPERIOR rating at the Texas State Solo & Ensemble Contest this weekend! That is the higher rating possible at the highest level of competition in the state! These students are:

Diego Elizalde, Sarah Dickerson, Rachel Andersen, Ezra Machuca, Jorge Galvan-Puente, Kyle Palfreyman, Jackson English & Nathan Mugan!

Next on our list for the weeks newsletter is Graduation!!! Remember that the Graduation Band will be loading the buses and leaving for Texas State University at 11:45 AM!! It is a Dress Nice event, therefor students should not wear jeans. The buses will leave immediately after the graduation ceremony is over! Parents, we will send out a remind with an ETA once the buses are rolling!

Finally - Super Exciting News!!! We are super close to having added our new Color Guard Director and our new assistant Band Director to our staff!!! Both individuals we have selected are AWESOME!!! Once all paperwork is completely finished we will be able to make the final announcement and introductions! We will send out invitations for a Meet & Greet where everyone can meet the newest members of our staff! Be on the lookout for the invitation which will include the date, time, and location!

As we wrap up our final report let’s remember to remind ourselves every day that: “it’s a great day to be a Jaguar!”

The guard newsletter will also have information for returning members to order guard uniform replacement parts, if needed. (We will be using the black leggings, jaguar sports bra, and jaguar tank again!)

Subscribe to Fly a Flag! Show your National Pride AND support the Johnson High School Band! The Johnson Band Boosters are offering a US Flag Subscription service! For national holidays a 3’ x 5’ flag on a pole will be placed in your front yard. The flags will be installed at least one day before the holiday and will be removed after the holiday (length of display will vary depending on when the holiday occurs). A one-year subscription to the Fly A Flag Program is $52. At this time, this service is only being offered in the Johnson High School attendance zone.

Staying Informed! The Jaguar Band strives to keep everyone informed about our events and increase the opportunity to answer questions and create conversations with our community. This year, you will be able to find out information not only in our Newsletter and on our Band Calendar, but we will also be sharing them on our Johnson Band website events page and as events on our Facebook page. Our events on Facebook will be used as a primary source for updates and reminders. Don't forget to use your section GroupMe's as a quick and effective way to get your questions answered!

Service hour logs are due April 11, 2023. There is a drop off slot in the band hall. Or they can email a digital copy to banquet@johnsonbands.com. The JHS Band Boosters have created a form for band students to track their band volunteer service hours. (Click the previous sentence to link to the form.) This form is similar to what is used by other organizations such as the NHS and puts control of volunteer service hours tracking in the students hands. Students should print and use this to log for all band related volunteer service hours and ensure completion of all fields including supervisor signature. Parents signatures are not accepted. Follow all details on the form to turn in the logs in the spring to be considered for Band Student Service Awards at the Band Banquet or for logging volunteer service for Letterman Jacket points. Any questions, contact banquet@johnsonbands.com or secretary@johnsonbands.com. This form should be used for all hours since the Band Banquet last spring. Multiple forms may be submitted to track all of your volunteer service.
