A Message from the Principal

Dear Families,

Thank you for joining us for conferences! It is always a pleasure having the chance to get together and talk about our wonderful Archer Glen kids.


This next week is an eventful one. Throughout the week, all of our classes will take field trips to the Sherwood Center for the Arts for VPA’s production of Finding Nemo Jr. On Tuesday, we celebrate the fall with one of our three annual classroom parties. And on Wednesday, we will have an 11:00 early dismissal so our staff can be a part of some important training. As a reminder, there is no lunch service on early dismissal days.


Our PAC, as they do, continues to support our school in amazing ways. Just yesterday, we started the process of replacing one of our playground canopies. This is a bit of a process, so we will be without one of two canopies for about 8 weeks. Although we are entering a rainy period, the upcoming holiday breaks will serve this project well. In the meantime, your child will still have undercover options for outdoor recess, but it will be a good idea to dress for the weather.

Playground Canopy Project

We will be replacing our large play structure canopy. This was installed 8 years ago and is up for replacement. The warranty process requires that the canopy be taken down and shipped back to the manufacturer prior to the new canopy being delivered. This results in the playground being short a canopy for about 8 weeks.


We will inevitably have days in which canopy cover would have been helpful, so it will be important that students wear appropriate rainy day clothing to school for outdoor recess. The new canopy should be installed when we return from winter break.

Please note that students will be dismissed from school at 11 am on Wednesday, November 1st for teacher development. No lunch will be served that day, but breakfast will still be available.

Candy Buy Back Week

Candy Buy-Back! Students can bring in unwanted Halloween candy from November 1 - 10. The collection bin is located in the front office. For every pound of candy collected, the school will receive $1 from Wilson Ortho.

PAC Volunteers Wanted

Archer Glen PAC is currently looking for volunteers to help with the following areas:


  • Popcorn Fridays (signups are in Help Counter)
  • PAC Photographer
  • Spring Carnival


To use the HelpCounter app, please follow these steps:

  • Step 1 Submit your background check.
  • Step 2 Contact Lyndsey Brewer at volunteer@archerglenpac.org to make sure that your background check has been cleared. This generally takes two weeks to clear.
  • Step 3 Download the HelpCounter App onto your phone.
  • Step 4 Create an account using the same email that you shared with the PAC coordinator.
  • Step 5 Set your volunteer preferences and sign up for volunteer opportunities at Archer Glen.
