It was all about Trunk or Treat this week! We had a great time celebrating all things Treats. Big thank you to our PTA, staff, and high school volunteers for an awesome evening. This week, we are finishing up Trimester 1 for the Elementary students, Dino Dash is on Sunday and Principal's Coffee this Thursday at 8:30 am at the high school campus (1151 San Juan Street) Room 25.

A big thank you to our PTA, staff, and high school students for an awesome night of Trunk or Treating! It was fun to see so many families celebrating the season. It was a great time and we look forward to seeing you all at the next event.
If you haven't done so already, be sure to mark your calendars for this Thursday, November 3rd at 8:30 am for our Monthly Principal/Counselor Coffee. Thanks to the positive response from our last coffee, we are building upon the topic of Anxiety in Students and spending this month's presentation on practical strategies to support students with Anxiety. Our Mental Health Specialist, Ms. Skomsvold, will be back to share her wealth of knowledge. We'd love to have you. See the flyer for more details.
Dino Dash is this Sunday, November 6th. There are 2K, 5K, 10K walk/run options alonge with 3 options for the bike tour as well. Tustin Connect gets $10 for every entry directly back to our classrooms. The yearly event, sponsored by the Tustin Public Schools Foundation is fun filled day for students and parents alike. Hello Maverick Families
Trunk or Treat was such an awesome night. Thank you to our teachers (Mrs. Maeda, Mrs. McCourtney, our office staff Mrs. De La Torre and Mrs. Alpay, along with Mrs. Flora our classroom support. We also want to give a shout out to our high school students that came out to support the event as well and lent their talents to us. Thank you Sophie, Conrad, Danielle, Michelle, Myles, and Anabel. It was an awesome night of fun.
Next up is our Principal/Counselor Coffee this Thursday. Please come and join us. The topic is an extension of last months on Anxiety. This month is all about how to support your student through anxiety including strategies. You won't want to miss it. It's 8:30 am on Thursday at the K-8 campus in the MPR (same place as last month).

Dino Dash 2022-This Sunday, November 6th
🦖 Dino Dash: TPSF Annual fundraiser will be on November 6th. The Dino Dash is a wonderful way for students and families to come together and raise money for TUSD schools. Many of the staff and students participate every year and we'd love to get a group of TC Mavericks together on race day.
- Register at https://www.tpsf.net/dinodash
- For each registration, $10 goes straight to your teacher's classroom for supplies.
- There's a virtual run available for families who can't make it or want to avoid the crowd.
- If you can't run, you can purchase a runnership to sponsor another runner in TUSD and $10 still goes to the classroom!
- We always need volunteers to run the event. If you are interested, please let me know.
✍️ Elementary Information ✍️

✔️ End of First Trimester: The first trimester ends on November 4th. Be sure to finish strong! With that, we have been working on a number of assessments. These serve as supports throughout the year to monitor progress and determine growth/needs. If your child takes an assessment at home, please make sure they have a quiet workspace. Please do not assist your child with tests, as this may provide inaccurate results.

Academic Support and Opportunities: If your student is struggling with the content, organization, or the emotion side of being a middle school student, we are here to help. Please don't hesitate to reach out and let us know what's going on. We have a number of resources available to us. Being independent and a successful student is also knowing when to ask for help and being able to do so. Please work with your students and our staff. We are here to help.
Virtual Sleep Hygiene Presentation: Hewes middle school is hosting a virtual workshop from neurologists, Dr. Galion and Dr. Min, on pediatric sleep November 2nd . All middle school parents are invited to attend! See flyer for more details including a Zoom link .

Deadline to Add/Drop Classes: Monday, October 31st is the last day to add/drop a course without receiving a penalty(grade) for dropping. Please be sure to check in with your Advisory Teacher and/or Mrs. W to make sure you get any changes addressed.
Tustin Talks: Tustin Talks is an organization and event run by high schoolers for high schoolers in the Tustin Unified School District. Tustin Talks is a night of performances in any form of artistic expression, including spoken-word, singing, dancing, and whatever other creative ways you can think of to share your story. The message behind Tustin Talks is to create an authentic and connected environment for the teenagers of Tustin and to celebrate and cultivate genuine human connection through the sharing of every individual's experience. NEW!! Free Online Tutoring Available for K-12 Students
Brainfuse HelpNow is an on demand, anytime, anywhere eLearning platform available for all ages and levels. Last week, it was announced that every Californian can now access free online tutoring available 24/7 through a new initiative offering homework help in every K-12 subject and skill-building resources for K-12 and adult learners.
Real-time homework assistance can now be accessed 24/7 here and on the websites of any of the 1,130 local public libraries around the state – click on the “HelpNow” link to reach a one-on-one tutor. The pilot program led by the State Library offers assistance in Math, Language Arts, and other core K-12 subjects in English, Spanish, Mandarin, Cantonese, Vietnamese, and Tagalog. There’s no age limit to who can use the service. Adult learners can also access writing assistance, citizenship resources and other tools.

TUSD Resource Sora Summer Read
Sora Sweet Reads in an annual summer reading program designed for schools to encourage students to keep reading all year long. "Check out" the free collection of simultaneous use juvenile and young adult ebooks (and select audiobooks).
Login to Sora to access these and many any other great ebooks and audiobooks all summer long through Clever, TUSD Student Portal or soraapp.com using your TUSD Google login and password.
