March 17, 2023
From the Principal's Office
Here are a few updates from our school. Please share this newsletter with 3 families so that we are all in the know.
Many many thanks for your continued support and partnership!

PS: Here is a picture of my favorite city preparing for the festivities. Chicago celebrates St. Patrick's day in a major way by tinting the Chicago River green!
Going Green for St. Patrick's Day!
Students may wear any shade of green, and any or all green accessories they have (socks, hair bows, etc). Please, no hats or beanies.
St. Patrick's Day and shamrocks, among many other symbols, are part of an Irish tradition which honors the life of Saint Patrick and the genesis of a specific religion in Ireland. We are wearing green to acknowledge the history of St. Patrick as well as all of the things that the color green represents:
-Safety
-Life
-Nature
-Springtime
-Freshness
-Hope
-Calm
-Tolerance
Spring Break + Beacon Programming

Spring Photos!!
Carver ES will offer Spring Photos for all students on April 11, 2023.
Students may wear an outfit of their choice (or your choice) for their photos. Flyers with pricing packages will go home within the coming days.
Smarter Balanced Assessment System (SBAC)
Families will be invited to an informational evening in early April where we will share schedules, test taking strategies, and other super important information.
I am so excited to share that Carver students have made significant and dramatic gains in reading since the beginning of our school year. Educators have shared progress during our March Parent-Teacher Conference Week. We are expecting our students to show what they know on all portions of the exam.
Families, staff, and our entire community will prepare the children and cheer them on to success!
International Women's Day x Beacon Event
Our very own Montae Powell (grade 5) will host a panel of women from the community who will share the value of women's contributions to our society, and their own personal journeys.
