Note(s) from the Admin Team
Dear Wredling Parents and Guardians:
Last week I shared with you some ways that dinner table conversations might increase communication and develop a closer connection between you and your middle schooler. Today I wanted to share with you some specific questions that you might ask. These questions might sound hokie, but trust me, if you are persistent and build that trusting relationship, you will learn a great deal about your middle schooler.
What was the coolest thing that happened at school today?
Can you share a fun fact or interesting tidbit you learned in any of your classes?
Tell us about a challenge you faced today and how you overcame it.
Did you work on any group projects or activities with your classmates?
What's a subject or topic you're really enjoying right now and why?
Did you discover any new hobbies or interests lately?
Share a funny moment or joke from your day that made you laugh.
Is there a book or story you're currently reading that you find intriguing?
Tell us about a classmate or friend who made a positive impact on your day.
Did you receive any feedback or praise from your teachers today?
Share something you're looking forward to in the coming week.
Discuss any after-school activities or clubs you're involved in and why you enjoy them.
Can you tell us about a project or assignment you're currently working on?
Share a goal or accomplishment you're proud of from this week.
Is there anything specific you'd like to learn more about or explore outside of school?
Asking deep questions makes a difference! I would love to share your experiences about how asking some of these questions went. You can email me at tim.loversky@d303.org .
Enjoy your weekend!
Tim

The Peer Leadership Program for Incoming St. Charles East Freshmen
Dear Parents of 8th Graders Attending East,
Peer Leadership is an extracurricular program that matches selected incoming freshmen with juniors and seniors who make the transition into high school fun and easy and mentor them throughout the year. Because this program meets during the school day, it has to be put into a student’s schedule when registering for next year’s classes. Although we would like to be able to offer this to all interested incoming freshmen, our numbers are limited by available classroom space and our budget. Therefore, in order to start the selection process, interested students should apply using the application found below.
If your child is interested in the program, please fill out the application and e-mail it to Kelly Pursel, the Peer Leadership Coordinator (Kelly.Pursel@d303.org). Completed applications must be received no later than Monday, January 22nd, 2024. For more information about Peer Leadership, please attend Future Saints Night in January.
We hope to hear from you!
