Dear SVDP Community,
I hope that this letter finds you and your family rested and rejuvenated. Some of us have traveled far and wide, and others have stayed closer to home. Travel provides individuals the opportunity to experience other cultures and customs, visit with family, friends, and strangers, and explore nature or man-made places around the world. In turn, travel always provides us the opportunity to reflect on our own lives and once we have returned home bestows upon us a grateful heart. Travel is always an education!
Let's see where in the world our community is traveling this summer by posting to the Padlet link below.
Blessings!
Marguerite Pini
Summer project 2023
The campus has been buzzing with lots of upgrades and projects taking place. Postponement of the roofing project was necessary when contractor quotes and city approval was delayed. The permit will be retained and the project will be completed next summer.
Improvements have been made in our learning environments across campus. The middle school and lower learning level have received a much needed cosmetic upgrade with a new coat of paint in all classrooms, hallways, and stairwells and new carpeting throughout the building.
Let there be light! Installation of LED lighting throughout all three of our educational buildings is taking place. Learning spaces are bright and energizing!
New classroom furniture has been purchased for multiple learning spaces.
Life and safety upgrades to courtyard gateway, including maintenance, the addition of motion sensors, and both entryways equipped with emergency back up batteries in case of a power outage.
Security cameras have been added near the entry gate that provide the school with a visual of the sidewalk both east and west of the middle school building.
The main entryway has been shifted to the west gate where a video camera and buzzer have been installed. Now families and vendors will gain access to the campus at street level. Once buzzed onto campus visitors will make their way through the courtyard to the front door of the main building and ring again. There they will greeted by our office staff and sign in on our School Check-in system.

The Holy Spirit and our School Mission
EXPERIENTIAL - INNOVATIVE - COURAGEOUS
Education is the engagement of an individual's BODY, MIND, and SPIRIT in the pursuit of meaning and purpose.
We are created to discover the world around us. Learners experience the world through their BODY beginning with the five senses - sight, smell, sound, touch, and taste. We then begin to move through the world and engage with it physically. Our spiritual health extends to the well-being of the BODY. We have a responsibility to take care of our BODY so that we can perform God's work here on earth.
These experiential opportunities engage the MIND to explore and ask questions about the material and transcendent always gaining more knowledge about the world, our communities, and ourselves. We are naturally curious. The MIND experiences and discovers meaning and purpose through its pursuit of "knowing" - making connections, identifying problems to resolve, and creatively innovating new modes of interacting and connecting with the world around us. Our Spiritual health extends to the well-being of the MIND. We have a responsibility to take care of our MIND engaging socially with others to do good in the world.
The SPIRIT is what breathes life into us and gives us the courage to ask questions, challenge assumptions, and persevere when encountering difficulties. The SPIRIT is a human's inner most essence and is our direct line to God. Our spiritual health extends to the well-being of the SPIRIT, or can be referred to as the SOUL. We have a responsibility to take care of our SPIRIT through prayer, study, acts of generosity, and sharing the WORD of God. The SPIRIT moves us into action and provides the tools - the Fruits of the Holy Spirit (listed below) necessary to do good in the world . And we, as children of God with free will, respond accordingly.
Use the breaker prayer below. Memorize it and used it throughout the day. Invite the HOLY SPIRIT into one's heart and ask for guidance in reframing one's thinking and feelings when encountering challenging situations.
