Vision Statement
The Lincoln Building Study Group will gather facts, consider history, evaluate with an open mind and explore opportunities in order to be able to present realistic and sustainable ideas and findings to the School Board.
Other considerations- Prioritize students, realistically fit into budgets, take into account future campus strategic plans, focus on sustainable outcomes.
Lincoln Building History
1892: Originally constructed
1980: Last used by students
1992-2012: District Offices
2012: Seismic upgrades estimated at $6.5M
2012: Levy for $500,000 demolition approved
2014: Request for renovation proposals - no submissions
demolition on hold in an attempt to repurpose
2017: Listed on the National Register of Historic Places
2020: Master Plan with Proposals
Lincoln Building Committee
Goal: Study options for the Lincoln Building, make a recommendation to school board.
Participants: Board Vice Chair John Nowak, staff, community members, families, accompanying student focus groups.
Process: discuss a summary of history and previous efforts, consider HS master plan, host community forums, research grants related to seismic upgrades, present to the board.
Frequency: Oct 2023 - April 2024, Monthly ~ 2 hr Afternoon Meetings with a 4-hr retreat
