Greetings Lawnside Families,
We're excited to announce an enhancement in our communication system regarding your child's academic progress. The Lawnside School District now offers expanded capabilities through the Parent Portal, enabling you to view not just daily class progress but also quarterly report cards.
What's New?
Previously, report cards were distributed by teachers during report card conferences at the end of each marking period. With this update, as soon as a marking period concludes, you'll gain immediate access to your child's report card via the Parent Portal.
Get Started:
If you haven't yet registered for the PowerSchool Parent Portal, here's how to begin:
1. Visit the district website.
2. Go to the 'Parent Resource' tab and select 'Parent Portal'.
3. Click 'Create Account' and follow the on-screen instructions.
Need Access Credentials?
If you require your Access ID and password, please contact Ms. ShaNell Wilson at swilson@lawnside.k12.nj.us.
We believe this new feature will not only provide you with timely updates on your child's academic journey but also positively impact their success in our district.
Thank you for your continued partnership in your child's education.

Dear Lawnside Families,
As we begin the month of February, I want to update you on some of the exciting things happening in our district.
First, we have several special events coming up this month to celebrate Black History Month. Our school has planned several activities to honor the achievements and contributions of African Americans throughout history. As part of our Black History Month celebrations, we also want to highlight the history of Lawnside, NJ. Founded in 1845, Lawnside was one of the first incorporated African American settlements in New Jersey. The town has a rich history and culture that we are proud to honor this month. I encourage you to ask your children about what they are learning.
In addition, parent-teacher conferences will take place on February 6th with two sessions
(2 pm - 4 pm) and (6 pm - 8 pm). This is a valuable opportunity to meet with your child's teacher, review their progress so far this year, and discuss ways to support their continued growth.
On the academic front, our teachers are working hard to prepare students for upcoming state assessment in April and May. Please help your child establish good study and bedtime routines. Getting enough sleep and coming to school rested allows students to focus and do their best work.
As always, thank you for being engaged and supportive partners in your child’s education. Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions or feedback.

Lawnside Youth Docent Project
The Peter Mott House and the Lawnside Historical Society is offering a training to the youth of Lawnside to become Docents, and provide tours of the Peter Mott House. A docent is a person who acts as a guide, typically on a voluntary basis, in a museum and/or gallery. The Lawnside Historical Society is offering three training sessions that would prepare the youth to conduct the tours. More information regarding the program is attached below; along with the contact information for Ms. Linda Shockley and Ms. Shai Whitney. Ms. Shockley and Ms. Whitney are both responsible for organizing this wonderful initiative.
February 2024 Early Childhood Advisory Meeting
Our quarterly Early Childhood Advisory Council will be in collaboration with the Special Education Parent Advisory Group. The meeting will be virtual and the focus will be Early Childhood Transition to School Age; and 504s and IEPs. We look forward to seeing you all there. The link for the meeting is below.
