American Pride
Kindergarten students in Ms. Chiaravalloti's, Ms. Tundo's, and Ms. Woessner's classes at Charles Olbon School made flags to honor all the men and women who have given their lives while serving and protecting our country. The classes discussed Memorial Day and why this important holiday is recognized every year on the last Monday in May.

Digging Dinosaurs
The School #1 Home & School Association held spring photos and a Dino Dig for our Pre-K students in the district. Earlier this month, this special event was held for the School #1 students and today, the event was held for the Pre-K students at Charles Olbon School. After getting a free spring photo taken, the students went on a "dig" to collect eggs filled with various surprises, such as erasers.

Pet Study Showcase
Students in Mrs. Parker's and Mrs. Cieslak's Pre-K classes at Charles Olbon School wrapped up their pet study with a celebration. The students shared their individual projects and are excited to start the next unit of study - insects.

Memorial Day Messages
Students in Mrs. Herrmann's third grade class at Beatrice Gilmore School designed Memorial Day posters. These posters will be hung in honor of our veterans and those who gave thier lives to protect us and our freedoms. This project followed a study on the origin of Memorial Day and an understandign that Memorial Day is not celebrated, but recognized, and that fallen veterans are remembered on this day.

Celebrating Bugs
To celebrate the completion of their insect study, the students in Mrs. Casasnovas' Pre-K 4 class created an insect mural together!

High Achiever
A Beatrice Gilmore School Certificate of Recognition was awarded to Maher M. This student has been working hard to improve his performance, especially in math. He has been attending afternoon sessions regularly and it has been paying off! Maher achieved 100% on his last three iReady assessments! Please join us in congratulating Maher!

Reminder To Acknowledge The Student Code of Conduct
Please be reminded that the Student Code of Conduct is located under the documents tab in the Realtime Parent Portal. It is also posted on the main page of each school’s website as well as our school district’s Homepage.
The next time you log into the Parent Portal, please click on the documents tab to acknowledge the Student Code of Conduct. Moving forward, you will be asked to complete this process at the beginning of each school year to ensure each family is provided with the most up-to-date information relative to The Code of Conduct.
If you are in need of a paper copy, please contact the main office of your child’s school building and you will be provided with one.

HSAs Announce Executive Boards For 2021-201
The Home & School Associations at our District schools have announced the Executive Boards for the 2021-2022 school year. Look for membership information to come home the first week of September.
The School #1 HSA is still working to fully form, as the school is in its first year back operation as a District facility. The following parents have been working to form the non-profit and raise funds for activities for the students: Tami Hajbi, Dana Camacho, Gina McQuin and Amy Dean. Thursday, June 10, 7 p.m. - Returning to Activity With Kessler Rehab Center. Learn about starting a safe and effective exercise program; how to progress to emphasize strength, endurance and the cardiovascular system; potential injury; when to contact an MD or PT; and how a PT can help you increase your overall activity. Saturday, June 12, 11 a.m. - Sunshine & Stories on the lawn at the Library for pre-K and up. All ages welcome. Outdoor Storytime and a craft on the library lawn. Bring a blanket to sit on and enjoy. Weather permitting, otherwise, we will send zoom information. Register here.
