WMS Friday Forecast
September 9, 2022
Dear WMS Parents and Guardians:
Like most schools across America, our reading and math test scores have suffered in the Covid era. Between i-Ready and IAR, we saw a decline in student achievement. It was really no surprise, but our goal now is to accelerate learning in order to move our students back to where they were pre-pandemic. Then move them forward.
To do that, we are working to build a deeper school wide culture of literacy and numeracy. Across all subject areas we will be working on reading, writing, and math. We will be addressing the learning gaps, then accelerating learning where needed and enriching where possible.
Last Friday on our school improvement day, our entire staff dedicated themselves to creating a more rigorous learning environment in reading, writing, and math. We will be working towards incorporating more high impact learning strategies, examining student work in our Professional Learning Communities (PLC's), and differentiating our instruction.
That does not mean that we will stop having fun here at Wredling! It does mean that we are going to take a slightly different track. We are going to work more closely together to find ways to improve our student achievement.
Wredling staff knows that we can move the needle in a positive direction, and we are excited for the challenge. We are fortunate to have an encouraging and dedicated group of parents and guardians to support our effort. And we appreciate you partnering with us as we move forward to create a schoolwide culture of literacy and numeracy.

Student Library Card FAQ for Parents
The St. Charles Public Library District offers a Student Library Card for District 303 students who live outside of the St. Charles Public Library District (SCPLD) and are not eligible for a library card at another public library. Big Hearts of Fox Valley
Big Hearts of Fox Valley is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization making a difference in our own community by brightening the lives of D303 children affected by financial hardship at Christmas time and throughout the school year. One of the needs BHFV faces every year is items for teens both during the holidays and throughout the year. Our Wredling community is hoping to help with these Needs for Teens with a collection drive.
Boxes will be at the front doors of Wredling on Curriculum Night Tuesday, August 30th for easy drop off. Any donations of the listed items would be so very appreciated and help students in D303 greatly. We will also have a box for donations on the field at Color Run on September 29th if you'd like to bring in donations then.
You can also make a monetary donation to BHFV that will go 100% to purchasing items for these D303 children and teens in need by visiting Make a Donation - Big Hearts of Fox Valley (bigheartsfv.org)
We are also looking for 10 Wredling families to sponsor a child for the holidays. Lists will be distributed in mid October.
If you have any questions or are interested in sponsorship, please reach out to Jackie Walzer at jmwalzer@hotmail.com
