Time Sensitive Application
To parents and families who are interested in applying for a general transfer or enrolling their student(s) in one of our "School of Choice" programs ( World Languages; Suzuki, Spanish Immersion, etc...
The Transfer & School of Choice Application window will be open from January 15, 2024, through March 8, 2024. These links will be posted on HEB ISD’s Transfers webpage at 8 am on January 15th.
Who should apply for a transfer?
If you are attending a campus that is not your Home Campus* and you would like to apply to attend for the 2024-2025 school year, you MUST complete a transfer application for your student(s). This would include but be not limited to PreK students, overflow students, and current School of Choice students living OUTSIDE the district. Transportation is NOT provided. If you have questions about your specific situation, please reach out to your current campus for more instructions.
* What is my “Home Campus”?
HEB ISD is a zoned District. Your Home Campus is based on where your student resides. You may check your address by using the School Boundary Locator link on HEB ISD's Map & Attendance Zones web page to verify which campus would be your Home Campus.

How perfect that we celebrate the life of MLK just at the start of the new year -- it offers the opportunity to make resolutions about the steps we each can take to foster more instilling resilience and determination on our quest for justice, equility, and libirties for the world.

What Is Your Goal of 2024?
It's time to set up your 2024 Goals, if you haven't already done that yet! "If You Fail to Plan, You Are Planning to Fail." By, Benjamin Franklin
The above quote emphasizes the importance of having a well-thought-out plan or goal to succeed in 2024.
Sit with your child and help him/her draft the 2024 goals, then support the child in tracking progress, staying motivated, and celebrating achieving these goals.
Four research-based steps for helping your child set effective goals:
- Step 1: Let Your Child Choose Their “Big Goal” ...
- Step 2: Discuss the Purpose of Your Child's Goal. ...
- Step 3: Break the Big Goal into Smaller Steps. ...
- Step 4: Brainstorm Potential Obstacles.

Goals Survey
Survey: Parent and gardiant; "What Are Your Goals in 2024?"
Example Goals
Thank you to all Parents / Grandparents who always support and participate in the school events. My goal for this year is to increase the number of parents joining the PTA.
I can't stress enough how crucial it is to join the PTA. It allows you to be more involved in your child's education, which leads to improved student outcomes, and you get to meet with other parents to discuss important things that benefit your child in the long term.
Parents, I can only aim for my goal with your support! You can sign up here to let me know if you are interested in joining. :)
To register, you must visit your child's campus's PTA online web page and look for PTA.
If you need help, don't hesitate to contact your child's school front desk or fill out a request from the language support service of the HEB ISD Family Engagement form. https://bit.ly/3taNDsJ. We are happy to support your request further.
Thank you for entrusting us with the privilege of educating and nurturing your children.
HEB ISD believes that student achievement for ALL students requires substantial family engagement opportunities.
Start every day in 2024 with three bullet points of Daily Gratitude 😍
"Things to Be Grateful For," for example:
- Starting a new day.
- Your good health.
- To have a caring family and/or friends.
- A healthy breakfast.
- Being able to help someone.
- Someone opens the door for you.

Once a week, I will schedule library time with the children. Make it a goal in 2024.
There are plenty of benefits to student library trips including exposing your child to endless resources, broadening their perspectives, providing access to information and resources, supporting literacy and education, promoting lifelong learning, and serving as a community gathering space.
Break the Habit 😬
Try to put your devices away at least an hour before bedtime, unless you're using audio-only content (more on that in a sec). We know it's hard to put down your phone, but it's worth it, because it affects your sleep calm.

Why Do We Have Separate Engagement Activities for Bilingual, Emergent Bilingual, and Immigrant Families?
HEB ISD believes that student achievement for ALL students requires substantial family engagement opportunities. We also believe that families of bilingual students, Emergent Bilingual or (ESL) students, and immigrant students need specialized engagement activities and strategies to overcome language obstacles on their family's educational journey. Family engagement and outreach services for these students and their families in these three groups are available using Title III funds. This newsletter is how we will communicate our activities and resource information. Check back frequently for updates throughout the year!
