Good evening, this is Mr. Andriolo calling to inform families that report cards will be sent home on Wednesday. The original report card schedule had them going home today; however, the updated district calendar has them heading home on Wednesday. Please be on the lookout for your child's report card on Wednesday. If you have any questions, please call us in the morning.

Weekly Message - December 10, 2023
Good evening, this is Mr. Andriolo calling to share important information about school and the upcoming week.
On Monday, you should receive your child’s report card. Please review it with your child, sign it, and send the copy back. If you have any questions about your child’s report card, please reach out.
Our Candyland Winter Family Night is this Thursday from 6 PM – 7 PM. We have so many fun stations your family will be able to enjoy during this awesome event. We hope you can make it.
Our Fall Extended Day Session ends this week. So, the last day for students in grades 1 and 2 is Wednesday, December 13th. Students in grades 3 and 4’s last day is Thursday, December 14th. The winter session is starting the week of January 8th.
Just a reminder that any changes to dismissal require a note to be sent into school. If you forgot to write that note, it’s very important to call the office to let us know. These calls should be made as soon as possible and no later than 2:00 PM so we have time to communicate those changes to the appropriate staff.

Good evening, this is Mr. Andriolo calling to share important information about school and the upcoming week.
There is an Early Release Day on Wednesday. Dismissal is at 12:50. On Wednesday, because of this Early Release Day, there is no 21st Century After School Program. Please plan accordingly.
As you likely know if you’ve dismissed a child or brought something into school during the day, our front door requires visitors to be buzzed in. When coming to the Murkland, always ring the buzzer and be prepared to share your name, purpose for your visit, and your child’s name. In addition, you should bring a state-issued ID or license with you. Please make sure the door closes behind you and you report straight to the office. We require all of this to maintain school safety. Thank you for supporting this process.
November has come to a close. We had an impressive 165 students with perfect attendance during the month of November. Those students will receive a new charm to put on their Murkland PRIDE necklace. December brings a new perfect attendance opportunity. Please do all you can to support your child’s attendance.

Good evening, this is Mr. Andriolo calling to share important information about school and the upcoming week.
On Wednesday, grade 3 students in room 206 and 207 are heading to the Acton Children’s Museum. On Thursday, students in 208 and 209 will be going there.
Our final day of November is this week. With that bring perfect attendance charm opportunities for students. December brings a new perfect attendance opportunity. Please do all you can to continue supporting your child’s daily attendance.

Good evening, this is Mr. Andriolo calling to share important information about school and the upcoming week.
We will be practicing our Options Based training drill this week. A notice will be sent home regarding these drills.
Wednesday, November 22 is also an Early Release. Dismissal on Wednesday is at 11:10. Please plan accordingly. Also, there is no school on Thursday, November 24 or Friday, November 25 because of Thanksgiving. I hope you and your family enjoy the holiday.
Given this is Thanksgiving week, I want to point out things I’m thankful for that you do this year:
I am thankful for all you’ve done as a parent to support your child’s education at the Murkland School.
I am thankful you are our partner in educating your child.
I am thankful you attend to our school events….and look forward to seeing you at our upcoming Winter Event.
I am thankful you check your child’s school folder each night and make sure they return completed homework.
I am thankful you make sure your child arrives ready to learn at school each day.
I am thankful you support your child’s attendance and answer our attendance calls or call us when your child is going to be absent from school.
I am thankful you work with your child’s teacher when needed.
I am thankful your family is part of the Murkland School community.
Finally, and of course, I’m thankful you listen to my weekly calls and ask your child what they learn at school each day…and that you don’t let them tell you they learned nothing.

Good evening, this is Mr. Andriolo calling to share important information about school and the upcoming week.
Our grade 4 students presented so well at the Veterans Day celebration at the Senior Center. We were so proud of our students, and the veterans, audience, and staff at the Senior Center were so impressed and thankful for the performance. Murkland PRIDE was on full display!
Our older students will be participating in the Stack Cup World Record Challenge this Thursday. This is a very exciting event and fun to watch. Mr. Fendell has done a great job getting our students prepared for this. A flyer went home that gives you information on how to purchase cups and mats if you're interested. They will be on sale at the Murkland all week.

Weekly Message - November 5, 2023
Good evening, this is Mr. Andriolo calling to share important information about school and the upcoming week.
There is no school on Tuesday, November 7 because of Election Day. Also, there is no school on Friday, November 10 to honor Veteran’s Day.
With two days off from school this week, we will encourage students to continue reading at home. To help with this and make sure all students have access to newer books, we have three Book Nooks at the Murkland. One is in front of the school near our Buddy Bench. This can be accessed at any time. The other two are in the building. Feel free to encourage your child to borrow a book from our Book Nooks.

Good evening, this is Mr. Andriolo calling to share important information about school and the upcoming week.
Our PreK students are putting on a show this Tuesday. PreK teachers have shared information letting PreK parents know when to attend. We hope to see you at this spooky show.
We have three Book Nooks at the Murkland School. If you would like your child to borrow a book from the Murkland, please encourage them to go to one of our Book Nooks.
We are entering the month of November and are approaching our 40th day of school. Our school attendance has been excellent so far this year. Please remember, if you child misses 10% of the school year, they are considered chronically absent by Massachusetts standards. This means, if your child has 4 or more absences to this point in the year, they are at risk of being chronically absent. Please continue to make sure your child has excellent attendance.

Weekly Message - October 22, 2023
Good evening, this is Mr. Andriolo calling to share important information about school and the upcoming week.
Progress reports went home last week. It is important to review this report with your child to see their progress. If you have any questions, please reach out to us.
Our After School Program begins this Monday for grades 1 & 2 and Tuesday for grades 3 & 4. If your child is attending, you should have received a notice from us. If you signed your child up for the program, but didn’t receive a notice, please call us on Monday. The after school program ends at 4:45. Please work to arrive promptly between 4:40 – 4:45 to pick up your child.
On Monday, 4th grade students in rooms 201 and 203 will be heading on a field trip to the Tsnogas Center. Please make sure they are wearing comfortable clothing and sneakers.

Weekly Message - October 15, 2023
Good evening, this is Mr. Andriolo calling to share important information about school and the upcoming week.
On Tuesday, grade 3 students in room 206 and 207 are heading on a field trip to the Concord Museum. On Friday, 4th grade students in 204 and 205 are heading on a field trip to the Tsongas Center.
Progress reports are heading home on Wednesday. Please review that report with your child. After you’ve reviewed the report, please sign it and send it back to school with your child. It’s important that you sign and return the progress report so teachers know you reviewed it.
The Murkland currently has a student attendance rate of 95.1%. Thank you for your support with this. If your child isn’t in school by 8:45, it’s very likely you will receive a call from Murkland staff checking in. Please continue to do all you can to send your child to school, each day. Good attendance is so important for a child’s future. It’s simple, a child in school more, learns more.

Weekly Message - October 8, 2023
Good evening, this is Mr. Andriolo calling to share important information about school and the upcoming week.
There is no school on Monday, October 9, to honor Indigenous Peoples Day.
On Wednesday, students in grade 1 are heading to Parlee Farms for a field trip. Please make sure students are wearing sneakers and comfortable clothing during their field trips.
On Thursday, grade 3 and 4 students will enjoy a String Presentation. They’ll see various string instruments such as violins, guitars, and cellos in action. This is led by UMass Lowell. There will be an opportunity for older students to participate in lessons at UMass Lowell. More to come on this.
On Friday, Grade 3 students in 208 and 209 are heading to the Concord Musuem for a Field Trip.
It was nice to see so many families attend our recent Open House. Our partnership, between the Murkland staff and your family, plays such an important role in your child’s education. Thank you for all you do to support this partnership. We are so appreciative of all you do to support the Murkland and your child’s education.

Weekly Message - October 1, 2023
Good evening, this is Mr. Andriolo calling to share important information about school and the upcoming week.
This Thursday, from 6:00 – 7:30PM, we have our Open House, Back to School Night. During this event, families are welcome to visit your child’s classroom and specials. We will also have the Book Fair running. We hope you’re able to join us during this great event.
Speaking of the Book Fair, it will run from Monday through Friday. Students are welcome to visit the Book Fair from 8:20 – 8:40AM. They can bring in money to purchase books or look at books and those items could be purchased Thursday during our Open House.
We open our doors in the Morning at 8:20AM so students who want breakfast in grades 1 – 4 can eat early and be ready for the start to the day. Please do all you can to get your child to the Murkland by 8:20 if they are eating breakfast.

We had an amazing time at Family Fun Night. We were so happy to see so many of our Murkland families enjoying the various activities. We look forward to seeing you at future events. Our next is Back to School Night in early October. During that event, you’ll be able to head into your child’s classroom and other learning spaces in the building.
This Friday, our grade 2 students are heading to Honey Pot Hill for a field trip. Please make sure they are dress in comfortable clothing and wearing sneakers.

Weekly Message - September 10, 2023
Good evening, this is Mr. Andriolo calling to share important information about school and the upcoming week.
This Thursday, September 14 from 6:00 – 7:30PM is Family Fun Night. We are so excited for this event! It takes place in the field located in front of our school and the entry fee for entire family is only $5. The entry fee covers all within event, including dinner for members of your family. We ask that you have immediate family attend this event and don’t open it up to others, as we plan for Murkland families only. The event is filled with fun activities including a games, bouncy houses, face painting, and presentations from first responders. We hope you and your family can make this awesome event.
This week, most students will be receiving their first Weekly Math Challenge. These math challenges are homework and typically head home on a Monday and are due back by Thursday. These challenges are used to see if students are applying math the learned in school within a unique problem. The bottom of the challenge asks for a family member's signature. Please try to talk with your child about their math challenge each week.
Student arrival and dismissal has been going well. Thank you for your patience and working to keep the entrance to our school clear from cars as you find a parking spot to pick up or drop off your child.

Weekly Message - September 3, 2023
Good evening, this is Mr. Andriolo calling to share information about school and the upcoming week.
On Tuesday, September 5, students return to school from the Labor Day weekend break. This is also the day that PreKindergarten and Kindergarten students have their first day of school. We are excited to welcome our new PreK and Kindergarten students to the Murkland School. School begins at 8:30 and we will have staff in front of the building to direct Kindergarten families into the gym to meet their child’s teacher. After your child heads off to class from the gym, we will hold a Kindergarten orientation at around 9AM for our Kindergarten families.
With Kindergarten and PreK starting, please be prepared for a very busy school parking lot. If possible, please try to park off school grounds.
For parents in grades 1 – 4, we had an excellent first week at the Murkland. Please continue to check your child’s folders nightly and make sure that all forms have been filled out and sent back to school.
The Murkland School has an attendance team. Often times, if your child is absent, you will receive a phone call from a Murkland staff member. In addition, you’ll also get an automated call. Student attendance is so critical to their success in school. Please do all you can to support your child’s daily attendance.
