UPDATE TO DISTRICT FACIAL COVERING POLICY
At last week’s Board of Education meeting, a discussion was held on district policy regarding facial coverings. Based on a review of our vaccination rates, vaccination opportunities, SCS COVID data/trends, and that our state health experts are planning to remove all current orders mandating these restrictions, the Board gave the direction that effective June 2, 2021 facial coverings will no longer be required to be worn on school property, at school events, or while waiting for the school bus. Continued use of a facial coverings will be an individual decision for our employees, students, and parents. These are the rules that will be in place for all district summer activities, inclusive of our in-person summer learning opportunities. Facial coverings must be worn through June 1, 2021.
In terms of the status of other COVID-related restrictions, those will be discussed in the coming weeks and updates will be provided as decisions are made.

MUSTANG SPOTLIGHT - MR. ADAM CLETZER, 8TH GRADE SCIENCE TEACHER AT SMS
Mr. Adam Cletzer is an 8th grade science teacher at Strongsville Middle School. Mr. Cletzer has been with our District for 6 years, teaching at Albion Middle School prior to SMS. His undergraduate degree is from Ohio University. In addition to teaching, Mr. Cletzer has also had the opportunity to work with the Middle School and High School wrestling programs. “This is a sport that I am passionate about, but coaching has shown me a new appreciation for the hard work of the students and their success.”
“Working with students is the absolute best part of my job. Watching them grow and learn is rewarding, but I always feel the most pride when the students learn to be self reliant and show growth. Working with middle school aged students is often difficult, but the harder the work the greater the reward,” said Mr. Cletzer.
“I have a fantastic support system here in the SMS Science Department. It has allowed me to grow and become a much stronger teacher. We also work in teams and I feel the regular interaction with different disciplines has been very beneficial in my development, as well as the students. Simply put, I could not do my job without my colleagues.”
Thank you Mr. Cletzer for your efforts and dedication in helping to develop our 8th grade students at Strongsville Middle School! #WeAreStrongsville
