Important Message from our Nurses
If your student will be absent from school for any reason, it is very important for you to call or email your student’s school and notify the school office of the reason for the absence. This helps us to keep track of illnesses among our students. It also helps us be assured that your student is safe at home.
Boone Schools and the community are experiencing an increase in a variety of illnesses. For the health of your student, other students, and school staff, it is important to know when your student should stay home due to illness. Students should stay home if they have had any of the following symptoms:
• fever of 100.4 or higher in the past 24 hours without the use of fever reducing medications
• bad cough
• nausea, vomiting or diarrhea within the past 24 hours
• sore throat
Please call the school nurse if you have any questions.
If your student was diagnosed with Covid-19, they should stay home for 5 days from symptom onset or day of positive test (Day 0). They may return on day 6 if they are able and willing to wear a mask through day 10 and symptoms are improved and remain fever free for 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medication . If your student is not able or willing to wear a mask, they must remain home through day 10. Free Covid at home tests are available at the Boone County Hospital, Boone County Family Medicine Clinics, Boone County Public Health Office and Walk-In Clinic.

8th Grade students in Mrs. Newcomb's Reading and Language Arts class dove deep into a book of their choice this semester while engaging in character development, theme, creative writing and all things curricular.
Dog-Eared Books came and spoke to students about the role of shelf talkers and business ownership. We are proud to say that the hard work the students have put in at the beginning of the year is now proudly displayed at both Dog Eared Books, The Ericson Public Library, and at Boone Middle School.
