
CTL Corner Summer Update
August 20, 2023
Dear CTL Families:
We hope you are enjoying the last few days of a wonderful summer break!
We welcomed many new renovations this summer that have brought vibrant, happy colors to our campus. We look forward to sharing them with you.
Our CTL Team just completed an energizing week of learning and planning together to ensure a smooth start to the 2023-2024 school year. We have an amazing team of teachers and staff who are looking forward to greeting the students and families this Monday, August 21 between 1:00 and 3:00 for Meet the Teacher. This is a come-and-go event. Please park in the front parking lot and enter through the red doors. You will be greeted at the front door and will then go to your child's homeroom class. If you are new to the school, we will escort you there. Please leave your school supplies with your homeroom teacher. If for some reason you do not have them, you may bring them on Tuesday.

- PreK-K - Alisa MacTavish (Blue Cottage) - You may go directly to the cottage tomorrow.

Enrichment teachers will be here on their assigned days:
- PreK-12 PE - Carly Grubbs - 8:20 to 3:10 Monday and Wednesday
- PreK-4 Art - Susan Feathers - 8:30 to 12:05 Tuesday
- 5-12 Art - 2:20 - 3:10 Tuesday and Thursday
- PreK-12 Music - Khoren Ouzounian - 8:30 to 12:05 Thursday
- 5-12 Drama - Adena Sweeney - 2:20 - 3:10 Tuesday and Thursday
- 3-12 Band - Paul Sommer (Children who are interested in continuing with the band this year will bring their instruments on Tuesday for 11:00 class. If your child is new to CTL and is interested in joining, please bring instrument for class. If you are new to CTL and may be interested in band, please come Tuesday at 11:00 to meet Mr. Sommer. If you can't make it and your child is interested please have him/her join the band meeting on Tuesday at 11:00 and contact me at lellis@centerforteachingandlearning.com to let me know you are interested so I can arrange a time with Mr. Sommer.
Thanks to those who have completed the RenWeb Online Enrollment. If you have not already done so, please complete the Renweb Online Enrollment as soon as possible. If you have any questions or need assistance, stop by the front office or contact Adena Sweeney at asweeney@centerforteachingandlearning.com. The enrollment process included access to our comprehensive 2023-2024 Student-Parent Handbook and the CTL 2023-2024 School Calendar.
Friendly Reminders:
- School officially begins at 7:55 AM on Tuesday, August 22.
- Drop off is 7:35-7:55 AM Mondays through Fridays.
- Students are dismissed at 3:15 PM Mondays through Thursdays and 1:05 PM on Fridays.
- If you arrive after 7:55 AM, please park in the front parking lot and walk your child to the front office to sign them in. We will escort them to class. If your child must leave school early, the same procedure applies.
- To drop off and pick up your child each school day, enter the school gate, drive past the front of the cottages, and stop at the ramp at the back of the building.
- During the first week of school, PreK/Kindergarten parents may park in the front lot and walk your child to the blue cottage or come to the ramp and we will escort your child there.
- Dismissal will form two lines in the front parking lot. When the first lines fills on the right side of the lot closest to the fence, the second line will form on the left side of the parking lot. The line moves quickly.

Preparing for the New School Year
School Supplies
School supplies are purchased by parents and brought to Meet the Teacher in a box or bag labeled with your child’s name.You received a School Supply List earlier. I am also attaching a link here.
What to Bring Each Day
Each student is required to bring the following items to school each day:
- A backpack that is large enough to transport school items to and from school. Students will wear their backpacks at arrival and departure, as we need their hands free. For safety reasons, wheeled backpacks are prohibited.
- A healthy snack for mid-morning snack recess time
- A complete, healthy lunch that does not require refrigeration or heating and that can be opened, unwrapped, and eaten by the student without assistance. Students are encouraged to be as self-sufficient at lunchtime as possible.
- A water bottle to keep with the student throughout the day
- A healthy snack for mid-afternoon snack recess time (PreK-K).
Each PreK student is required to bring the following additional items to school each day
- A spare change of clothes, including underwear
- A nap mat and bedding (sheet or blanket and pillow) for quiet time. Bedding will be sent home every Friday to be washed/cleaned and must be returned the next school day.
