September Newsletter

September is finally here, and there was a slight tinge of coolness in the air this morning. I am looking forward to cooler weather. We have a lot going on in September. Please ask your student's teacher how you can get involved with Fruchthendler.

• Parent/Teacher Conferences - Conferences are this month. Please make sure to schedule a time with your student's teacher. This is the time to meet with them and address any concerns you may have while we are early in the year.
  
• Attendance - One of the keys to academic success is being at school every day on time. It is crucial that students are on time. Many classes do their morning circle where students are checking in with each other and bonding as a class. It is important that students do not miss this time.
  
• Facebook– Please check out our Facebook page. We will be posting school-related announcements on this site. The PTA has a group page where families can share pictures from the events or get information. Please keep all communication on social media civil.
  
• Dining for Dollars (D4D) - Thank you to everyone who has attended out D4D events so far. We have two each month. They are a great opportunity to hang out with other families and support the school.
• Sports Seasons - Cross Country begins 9/11, basketball begins 11/20, and Track and Field begins in the Spring. In order to compete, a student must have a physical form. I will be sending out those forms the first week of school.
  
• PTA and Volunteering - We are always looking for volunteers to help out in the classroom. The PTA is always looking for volunteers to help at events. Please contact the front office if you are interested in volunteering. Ms. Kayla or Ms. Carmen can make sure you have any paperwork you need. If you are a parent, you do not need paperwork to volunteer with your child.
  

Our students are busy writing stories for the Stories that Soar! We have the drama team from Sabino High School (including several Fruchthendler alumni) getting the stories our students write and turning them into performances. The performance will be November 3rd. TUSD even did a story and is following the work. Check out the article: Stories that Soar! (tusd1.org).

September's Character Strong trait is RESPONSIBILITY. Responsibility is taking action and understanding the impact of our choices.

  9/11 - Choir starts 3rd - 5th graders

  9/12 – Dining for Dollars (D4D) – Jersey Mike’s 4-7pm, 20% back

  9/13 - Hearing and Vision Tests in library

  9/14 – Stories That Soar! pickup

  9/14 – PTA Meeting @2:45 in the library

  9/20 – 9/22 – Parent Teacher Conferences (dismissal time 11:25)

  9/21 – Dining for Dollars (D4D) – MOD Pizza, all day, 20% back

  9/25 – 10/5 – Quarterly Benchmark Assessments (Q1) 2nd – 5th Grades
